Chapter 790 Lanting Preface, Ancient Mystery

Chapter 790 Lanting Preface, Mystery Through the Ages
Although I don't know what the weights of Shuizikou and Tuzikou are, we can roughly infer them from the volume of the wooden box.

The slightly flat rectangular wooden box should be filled with calligraphy, paintings, and things with water-shaped mouths.

And a small square wooden box with a side length of more than ten centimeters, it is estimated that it contains jade, and it should be something with a mouth.

Everyone looked at Cai Pengxi, the wooden box at Tuzikou, he was the most suitable to open, and he was also the oldest.

"Shangguan should open first, I will be last." Cai Pengxi smiled slightly.

Shangguan Yu was also not polite, "Okay, then the old man will press the stage."

Open this rectangular wooden box, there is a partition in the middle, forming two spaces, and in each space, there is a rectangular calligraphy and painting box.

These two calligraphy and painting boxes are no longer golden nan gloomy wood, but golden camphor.Golden camphor is mainly produced in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, with Myanmar as the top grade. It is rich in iron and oil, moisture-proof, anti-corrosion, and insect-proof. It is golden in color and looks noble. It is very suitable as a calligraphy and painting box.

Shangguan Yu first picked up one of the golden camphorwood boxes and opened it.

Inside, as expected, was a scroll.

Yu Yao took the hand, and the two stretched out the scroll.

Wang Wei's "Xue Mountain Snow Intention"!
Wang Wei, courtesy name Mojie, comprehended the principles of Zen and flourished in the Kaiyuan and Tianbao years with the name of poetry, known as the "Poetry Buddha".And Wang Wei's calligraphy and painting are no less than the title of a poem. Later generations regarded him as the ancestor of Nanzong's landscape painting!

Su Dongpo once said: Tasting Majie's poems, there are paintings in the poems; watching Mojie's paintings, there are poems in the paintings.

It is a pity that Wang Wei has no authentic works handed down to the world. Strictly speaking, there is no reliable, conclusive and recognized authentic work handed down. There are a few works in existence, but they are all controversial, and most of them are considered to be copies by later generations and fake works by the latter.

"I said that Mr. Hedi still left so many high-quality paintings and calligraphy and did not put them in the secret collection. It turns out that the ones that were put in the secret collection are such top-level priceless treasures!" Shangguan Yu was shocked and praised.

Everyone was also shocked.

Of course, there isn't much time to appreciate right now. After putting away Wang Wei's "Xueshanxue Intent", Shangguanyu opened the second golden camphorwood box.

There is also a calligraphy and painting inside.

To be precise, it is a piece of calligraphy.

This calligraphy left everyone dumbfounded!

Just now Wang Wei's "Intention of Snow in Mountains and Streams" did shock everyone, but not to the point of being stunned.

But this calligraphy made everyone almost forget the time, and they couldn't extricate themselves from being immersed in it!

Fortunately, there were so many people, and when the exchange collided, I came back to my senses, so I put it away carefully first.

Because this calligraphy is "Orchid Pavilion Preface"! ! !
"Lanting Preface" (also known as "Lanting Collection Preface" and "Linhe Preface"), the full text is 28 lines, 324 characters, the words are exquisite, the whole text is wonderful, and the brushwork is like the help of gods. It is known as "the first calligraphy in running script" in China It is worthy of the name, and for thousands of years, there is no one who can match it.In the history of Chinese calligraphy, its position is unshakable.

The author is Wang Xizhi, the sage of calligraphy.

This work is known to all women and children, but it has become an eternal mystery in the history of calligraphy and cultural relics!
Because of this superb calligraphy, since the Tang Dynasty, the whereabouts of the original work has been confusing, and there is no real conclusion to this day.

The "Orchid Pavilion Preface" handed down from generation to generation are all copies or imitations. There was once a piece of "Lanting Preface" that was once considered authentic in history, but after a lot of research, it was confirmed that it was a copy of Feng Chengsu's "double hook filling ink" and not the authentic one.

Regarding the excavation and collection of "Lanting Preface", I have to mention Emperor Qianlong who liked to "destroy the ancients tirelessly".

In the spring of the 44th year of Qianlong, he had already collected six works related to "Orchid Pavilion Preface".

Although there is no authentic "Lanting Preface" among them, they are all famous works in history, including Feng Chengsu's facsimile, and the other five are: Yu Shinan's facsimile, Chu Suiliang's facsimile, Liu Gongquan's "Lanting Poems" and the preface, Dong Qichang Linliu Gongquan's "Lanting Poems", and Xihongtang engraved the original Liu Gongquan's "Lanting Poems".

These six works can be said to be the most valuable related works of art besides the original works. It is not easy to collect so many works. However, this Lord Qianlong still has more to say!He also asked Yu Minzhong, a senior scholar, to engrave Liu Gongquan's "Lanting Poems" in Hongtang, and make another painting.

That's all, after all, it is a supplementary que pen, and Yu Minzhong can be regarded as a calligrapher, and his calligraphy style is similar to that of Dong Qichang.

However, Qianlong, who was still full of ideas, not only "created" this one, he actually made another one!
It may be that he also knew that his level was not very good, so he didn't dare to look at the works of the Tang people, but came to the "Dong Qichang Lin Liu Gongquan" piece.

Ever since, the first six pieces, plus the one made up by Yu Minzhong, and the one by Emperor Qianlong that can only be regarded as "make up the number", there are a total of eight pieces, which became the famous "Lanting Eight Column Book".

Because Emperor Qianlong rebuilt the "Sitting Stone Linliu Pavilion" in the Old Summer Palace into an "Eight Square Pavilion with Double Eaves" in order to "eternal its biography". From this.

However, thinking about it again, Qianlong loved antiques and treasures, and he was the emperor who ruled the world. Even he couldn't find the authentic ones. It is very likely that the authentic ones have not been handed down since the Tang Dynasty.

In this regard, the prevailing view today is that the "Lanting Preface" was buried with Tang Taizong Li Shimin in his tomb.

Some books that combine official history, unofficial history, and legends sound like they have a nose and eyes.

It is said that Wang Xizhi also cherished "Lanting Preface" very much, because he tried it later and could never write works of this level again. Therefore, Wang Xizhi regarded "Lanting Preface" as a family heirloom.

It was passed down to the seventh grandson of Wang Xizhi at the end of the Northern and Southern Dynasties. However, this seventh grandson became a monk when he was young, and his dharma name is Zhiyong. As a descendant of Wang Xizhi, Zhiyong couldn't justify not being obsessed with calligraphy. How obsessed is he?In Yongxin Temple, where he became a monk, he locked himself in a small building and practiced calligraphy hard, vowing that "if you can't write a book, you can't go down this building", and practiced hard for 30 years.

Zhiyong later indeed became a famous calligrapher in history. Although he is not as good as Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, let's take a look at the "Thousand Characters of True Grass".

Zhiyong lived a hundred years, a very long life; but he was a monk and had no descendants; Wang Xizhi's wish to make "Lanting Preface" as a family heirloom was terminated. However, Zhiyong did not have a son, but still had an apprentice. Before he died, he passed the "Lanting Preface" to his apprentice Biancai.

In order to live up to his master's entrustment, Biancai quietly dug a hole in the roof beam and hid the "Orchid Pavilion Preface" in it.

At this time, it was the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty.Emperor Li Shimin heard that the original "Lanting Preface" was in the place of the monk Biancai, and arranged for people to get it many times, but Biancai refused to accept it. He just said: After the master passed away, the poor monk did not know the whereabouts of the "Lanting Preface" .

When Li Shimin saw it, if he didn't accept the soft and the hard, he would outsmart him.Not long after, a scholar "accidentally" met Biancai. This scholar has a high attainment in calligraphy, and he had a good chat with Biancai, and the relationship became deeper and deeper, and finally became a "confidant".

One day, the scholar brought two authentic paintings of Wang Xizhi to Biancai, and his confidantes appreciated them together. When we chatted to a hearty point, Biancai sighed, saying that although the calligraphy you brought are all authentic works of Wang Xizhi, they are not top quality! With this topic in mind, the scholar finally told Bian that he had a masterpiece by Wang Xizhi after a lot of probing and routines.

Continuing the routine, Biancai hesitated again and again, and said "Lanting Preface".The scholar naturally "doesn't believe it", he only brags when he speaks and judges, and shows it together with contemptuous eyes.

Biancai couldn't control it for a while, and actually took out "Orchid Pavilion Preface" from the beam!
After examining it carefully, the scholar put the "Orchid Pavilion Preface" into his sleeve and took out the emperor's edict at the same time!

It turned out that this scholar was the Supervisory Censor Xiao Yi!
It was only at this time that I realized that I had been fooled, but it was too late to regret it!

From this, Li Shimin got the "Lanting Preface".Monk Biancai became sick with grief and anger, and he let go not long after.

When Li Shimin was alive, he ordered many famous calligraphers to make copies of "Lanting Preface", as well as "rubbing copies"; after his death, "Lanting Preface" was taken into the coffin by him as a funeral object.

If the original "Lanting Preface" was indeed buried, what about the one in front of me?
