Chapter 7 Fulfilling Wishes

Chapter 7 Fulfilling Wishes
I have a friend in Izu Mishima.I was spending the summer on the second floor of his house four years ago when I was writing a fantasy novel and this happened around the time.I got so drunk one night that I cut my right ankle while riding my bike. The wound was not very deep, but it kept bleeding, so I rushed to see a doctor. There is a doctor in the town who is obese and looks like Takamori Saigo. He is only 32 years old. When I arrived in the consulting room, I couldn't help but feel a little amused. It turned out that he was as drunk as I was. While in therapy, I couldn't help but laugh. The doctor was also infected by me, and kept laughing along with me.We looked at each other and laughed until the end.

Since that night, I have become good friends with him.Doctors are more interested in philosophy than literature. And I also prefer philosophy, so I was able to chat with him.The doctor's world view is more inclined to primitive dualism, believing that everything in the world is either good or evil, and he never hides his words.I have always firmly believed in the god of love, but after listening to the doctor's theory of good and evil, my gloomy mood became lighter. For example, when I visit late at night, the doctor immediately orders his wife to treat me with beer, which is good; but if his wife laughs and persuades us to play bridge, it is evil.I agree with the doctor's argument from the bottom of my heart. The doctor's wife looks mediocre and has many spots on her face, but her skin is very fair and she looks very temperamental. The two of them had no children, and his wife had a very well-behaved younger brother who was studying at a commercial school in Numazu and lived on the second floor of his sister's house.

The doctor has the habit of reading newspapers, so he ordered five copies at home.Every morning when I go out for a walk, I will go to his house to read the newspaper for half an hour to an hour.I entered the house by the back door and sat on the veranda. The doctor's wife would bring me ice-cold barley tea, and I would hold down the wind-blown newspaper while drinking the tea.A small river flows on the grass less than two rooms away from the verandah.Every morning the milkman would say good morning to me as he passed by.Every day at this time, a young woman comes to get medicine. The woman was wearing plain clothes and clogs on her feet. This outfit looked fresh and crisp. The hearty laughter of her and the doctor is often heard in the consulting room.Occasionally, the doctor could be seen coming out to see her off, standing at the entrance and saying loudly: "Madam, hold on, you'll get over it after you grit your teeth."

Once, the doctor's wife told me the story of that woman. Her husband is a primary school teacher. He contracted lung disease three years ago. After treatment, his condition has gradually improved recently. The doctor often encourages the wife, saying that now is the most critical time, so she must persevere. The wife believed the doctor's words very much.Sometimes when I see her, I feel uncontrollably sad.Every time she came to see a doctor, the doctor said to her hard-heartedly, "grit your teeth and persevere."The implication is already obvious.

One day at the end of August, a beautiful picture appeared before my eyes. That morning, I was sitting on the porch of the doctor's house reading the newspaper, and the doctor's wife next to me whispered, "You look very happy."

I suddenly looked up at the path, and saw plainly dressed people walking briskly past with white parasols in their hands.

The doctor's wife muttered again: "It's already nodded this morning."

Three years, it's easy to say, but in fact I feel aggrieved.I feel that the longer the time, the more beautiful the figure imprinted in my mind.Maybe it was infected by the doctor's wife.
