Chapter 21 Wrong go

When the two children went out, they met Qiaoer who was carrying a basket to the pond to wash dishes.

Qiaoer asked: "Goudan, where are you going?"

Goudan said seriously: "Go find Chang'an dad."

Nine-year-old Qiaoer was a little puzzled, but she didn't ask any more questions and warned: "Then don't run too far and come back soon."

"Yeah." Goudan nodded and led Chang An towards the outside of the village, Huahua followed behind them.

Unknowingly, as we walked out of the village road, a slightly wider road appeared in front of us.

Chang'an looked to the left and then to the right, feeling a little confused.

Which way are you going?

Finally Goudan pointed in a direction, "Go this way." This was the direction to catch the temple fair, and he was familiar with it.

Chang'an nodded, and walked hand in hand with Brother Goudan in the direction he pointed. Huahua ran fast, surpassing the two children, and walked alone in front. He glanced back from time to time, seeming to urge them to hurry up.

The two children and one cat didn't meet anyone, because it was not the time to go to a big market, and the villagers generally didn't go to Guandao.

The three little ones wandered for a long time, and finally the sun began to set in the west, and they came to another fork in the road.

Even Goudan was confused now and forgot which way to go to Tieniu Town.

Huahua meowed and ran in one direction.

Chang'an had no choice but to drag Brother Goudan to follow him.

Goudan was a little tired at this moment and regretted that he should not have taken Chang An so far. He wanted to go home.

But she promised Chang An to take her to find her father. If she goes back now, Chang An will definitely cry.

Oh, forget it, we have already walked so far, maybe we can find Chang'an's father if we walk for a while.

Goudan made up his mind and pulled Chang An towards Huahua.

On the road, they also encountered horses galloping by and mules pulling vehicles, which made them feel strange.

There are not many horses, mules and donkeys in the local area, and there are none in their small village.

Children are most familiar with the slow oxcart, but they don’t ride it every time they go to the market.

"Chang'an, are you tired?" Goudan asked.

Changan shook his head.

She didn't feel tired while playing and walking, but she was a little thirsty.

Chang'an looked at the small ditch on the roadside. There was no water at all in the ditch. He licked his lips and suddenly thought of the pool where the little goldfish lived.

If only that water could be taken out.

Goudan was also thirsty, sighed secretly, and wanted to go home more and more.

Xiao Changan was looking around, and suddenly he saw Huahua running towards a small road. There were several families vaguely visible at the end of the road.

"Huahua! Go, go over there." The little doll pointed at Huahua and said to Brother Goudan: "Begging, begging for water."

Goudan immediately nodded, led Changan down the official road, followed Huahua and walked a long dirt road, finally entering the village.

Before they reached the villagers' houses, several dogs rushed out and started barking. Huahua was so frightened that she ran into the grass, and Goudan and Chang'an huddled under the wall and did not dare to move.

A villager came out of the house after hearing the sound and saw two children. They were well dressed and did not look like beggars. They couldn't help but curiously asked: "Which village are you from?"

Goudan replied: "From Songjia Village, we are thirsty and want to ask for a bowl of water."

"Songjia Village? It's not close to here. Baby, where are your adults?" the villager asked as he led the two children into the house.

Goudan said nothing, and Changan blinked and said nothing.

Another woman wearing a headscarf came out of the house and said in surprise: "Are you really from Songjia Village? Do you know Song Sanshun?"

Goudan pointed at Chang'an: "It's her third uncle."

The woman clapped her hands and said, "Oh! What a coincidence! Are you going to the Wu family to visit Wu Zhonglou?"

Chang'an and Goudan were stunned.

The woman continued: "Hey, why are you two children here? Why didn't Xiuying and the others come back?" Chang'an stammered and replied: "Auntie went to the ground."

"No wonder." The woman scooped a ladle of water from the water jar and handed it to the two children: "Here, drink quickly. I will take you to Wu's house later."

Chang'an then remembered that the Wu family mentioned by the aunt should be the third aunt's parents' family.

strangeness? How did you get here?

After drinking a few sips of water, Changan handed the water ladle to Goudan and asked him to take a few sips as well.

After the two children finished drinking the water, they returned the water ladle to the woman. Changan also thanked her seriously: "Thank you very much, ma'am."

The woman touched Chang'an's head, put the water ladle on the pot lid, took the hands of Chang'an and Goudan, and walked towards the deepest part of the village.

The dogs stopped barking and returned home, squatting at the door and watching eagerly.

Chang'an looked around for Huahua and called out a few words, but it didn't appear.

She was a little anxious, fearing that Huahua would get lost in this strange place.

The woman and her two children soon arrived at a farmhouse.

A small fenced courtyard with three low thatched houses.

Chang'an saw Huahua in the yard, meowing to a gray-haired old man.

The old man bent down and touched Huahua's back, then raised his head and looked out of the yard.

"Ah Weng." Chang An ran over and hugged the old man's leg.

Old man Wu was surprised and happy to see Chang'an. He picked her up and asked, "Good boy, why are you here alone? Where are your three uncles and three aunts?"

Chang'an didn't dare to look at Aweng and said in a low voice: "I, I'm looking for daddy."

Wu Aweng was stunned and heard the woman say: "Fifth Uncle, these two children came here by themselves, no adults took care of them."

"What?" Old Man Wu was surprised. He looked at Goudan again, then at Chang'an, and asked, "Did you really come here on your own?"

Chang An lowered his head humbly and hummed softly.

Old man Wu sighed and said to the woman, "It's hard for Yao's daughter-in-law to send them here."

"Why are you so polite? It's just a coincidence that they came to ask for water, so my husband asked more questions, and then I realized that they were looking for your home."

The woman took advantage of the situation and asked, "Brother Chonglou, are you feeling better?"

Old man Wu sighed: "The fever hasn't subsided yet. I'll go to the town to grab some medicine and come back tomorrow."

His son has not been in good health since he was a child and gets sick frequently. The more worried his wife is, the weaker he becomes. Alas, he is really afraid of everything.

The woman said a few more pleasantries and left.

Old man Wu hugged Chang'an and called Goudan into the house.

Putting the little doll next to the table, Old Man Wu said, "Your grandma has gone to dig herbs and will be back soon. Are you hungry? I'll make you a bowl of rice noodles."

Chang'an and Goudan nodded.

They were indeed hungry. Although they ate two steamed buns during the walk, the amount of exercise today was so intense that the little food was long gone in their stomachs.

Even Huahua ate half of the steamed bun, otherwise she really wouldn't have been able to walk this far.

Old man Wu muttered while talking to each other: "How dare you two children go out for more than ten miles? Do Sanshun and the others know?"

Changan shrank his neck and did not dare to answer.

Goudan said loudly: "Uncle Sanshun knows."

Old Man Wu paused, then frowned: "He is really big-hearted. What if he lets a child like you run out? What if he encounters a wolf?"

Goudan and Changan looked at each other.

At this time, they were a little scared.

There are indeed wolves in the wild. One night, Chang'an heard the howling of wolves.

"Dad, who's here?" The young man's weak voice came from the dark room, accompanied by a slight cough.
