Chapter 4 A strange day

"what"

Lin Yi suddenly sat up and held his chest, his fingertips trembling.

He could hear his heartbeat clearly.

When he lowered his head, he found that there were no wounds.

Is it a dream?
He took a deep breath and looked up to find that he was sitting on a chair in the duty room.

There was no rabbit lantern from Grandma Li on the table, and there was no vajra in my pocket.

Was it just a nightmare?

But it felt so real.

When he thought about the scene of his chest being pierced, he felt his heartbeat speeding up.

"Xiao Lin, good morning. You came here very early today." Director Li reached out and patted Lin Yi's shoulder with a smile, interrupting Lin Yi's memories.

The air is filled with the aroma of meat buns.

Director Li was holding a transparent plastic bag with steaming buns inside.

As soon as Lin came to his senses, he stood up and greeted Director Li with a smile, "Good morning, Director."

"Have you had breakfast?" Director Li shook the bag in his hand and said in a very gentle tone, "Would you like to try the big meat buns just out of the oven? It's so delicious."

The aroma of the big meat buns was so tempting that Lin Yiyou was greedy.

He glanced at the bun, which was covered with a smoky black air.

What is this?
  Was he dazzled?

Lin Yi blinked hard and looked over again, but the black energy did not disappear.

"What's wrong, Xiao Lin?" Director Li noticed something was wrong with Lin Yi's expression, and a trace of concern appeared on his face.

"Uh, it's okay." Lin Yi shook his head and turned to Director Li, with a slightly unnatural smile on his face, "No, thank you, Director."

He was extremely panicked.

Why did Director Li become different in his eyes?

The smile on her blue-white face was stiff and weird, and dark red liquid dripped down her forehead and onto her shoulders, like blooming plum blossoms.

The originally warm and bright eyes became cloudy and cold.

It gives people a spooky atmosphere.

"Don't be so polite. I told you we are a family here."

Director Li put the bag on the table, took out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Lin Yi, "The charity supplies will arrive in a moment. You go and help unload the goods first."

Lin Yi looked at the paper in his hand and was stunned.

It is a receipt list, which records the type and quantity of this batch of materials.

Isn’t this the material we received yesterday?

What's going on!

Lin Yi was full of doubts.

Why does everything feel weird when I wake up?

"Xiao Lin, why are you in a daze again?" Director Li patted Lin Yi's shoulder again and warned: "Be careful when counting, don't be in a daze. Do you hear me?"

"I heard you, Director."

Lin Yi looked at Director Li's face and still couldn't hold back his doubts. He stretched out his hand and wiped the other person's face.

As a result, there was nothing on my hand, it was clean.

He whispered: "Is there really something wrong with my eyes?"

Director Li: "."

From the moment she entered the door, she felt that Lin Yi's expression was different from usual. He was babbling again. Could he have noticed something?

When he thought of this, Director Li's expression changed, and he stared straight at Lin Yi, his eyes sharper: "Xiao Lin, if you have any questions or difficulties, just tell me directly. Don't hold it in yourself."

Lin Yi quickly denied: "There are no problems or difficulties. The caring community is as warm as home to me."

"That's good." This answer satisfied Director Li.

Her expression relaxed for a moment, and she said softly: "Go and do your work."

Lin Yi walked out of the duty room with his head lowered. He was sure that there was something wrong with his eyes.

what to do? Where is the cheapest place to see an eye doctor? Can I apply for medical insurance? How much can you pay?
Many thoughts ran through my mind.

Why is he so unlucky?

Ugh!
Lin Yi squatted on the ground in frustration and looked at the small balance left in his account.

I'm afraid this disease cannot be cured.

It took a while before he stood up.

Forget it, it's just that things look a little weird, but it's not a big deal.

Anyway, he is quite courageous, so just think of it as accepting new things.

After comforting himself, Lin Yi regained his energy and started working.

Then he repeated the same thing again, the same conversation. The doubts in his heart aroused again, is he dreaming now?
Lin Yi grabbed his arm hard, and the strong pain told him that this was not a dream.

But what happened yesterday?

For a moment, Lin Yi felt like his brain was going to explode. This feeling of being confused was too uncomfortable.

"Xiao Lin, I want you to work hard these three days and work the night shift for Lao Wang. He broke his leg and needs to rest for a few days."

"Working hours are from 8pm to 8am the next morning. If you don't come during the day, your salary will be plus a night shift subsidy of 600. Is there any problem?"

Director Li once again talked to Lin Yi about the night shift.

This time Lin Yi chose to refuse.

Although he hasn't figured out the truth of the matter yet, it's better to be cautious for the sake of his own life.

But it was of no use.

He still had to work the night shift, but it changed from three days to one day.

Just tonight.

It looked like duty was a necessity and he couldn't escape it.

Does that mean death is inevitable?

Lin Yi didn't want to admit defeat like this. He was still young and didn't want to die young.

If I stayed in the duty room honestly and didn't meet those people, would I be able to get through it safely?

Lin Yi didn't know, but he wanted to give it a try.

Don't give up even if there is the slightest chance.

Next came another familiar scene, Lin Yi pushed the car to the residential building.

The elevator landed smoothly on the 4th floor, just like before.

He pushed the cart forward step by step, and there was only the sound of the wheels being pushed in the entire corridor.

But for some reason, Lin Yi felt weird, as if he was not the only one in the corridor.

Is he too sensitive?
Lin Yi suddenly stopped and quickly looked behind him. The place was empty, not a single person in sight.

He stared at the water stains on the ground in silence for three seconds. Sure enough, he was overthinking and had another misunderstanding.

The sound of the wheels sounded again, and Lin Yi continued walking towards 401 and 402.

He didn't notice that the water stains behind him were slowly squirming and gathering together.

Knocked on the door of 402 again and moved the supplies inside.

This time there was nothing wrong with his eyes and he didn't see anything strange.

Grandma Li gave the little rabbit another lantern as usual.

This time Lin Yi didn't shirk anymore and accepted it readily.

He knew that there was no flashlight in the duty room, and the rabbit lantern was the only moving light source.

When Lin Yi thought of this, he thought of the burning arm at the end and the black shadow rushing towards him.

The whole person was staring at the little rabbit lantern in a daze, and then Grandma Li poked her shoulder, "What are you doing? Look at your distracted look."

Seeing the concern in Grandma Li's eyes, Lin Yi couldn't help but want to say something.

The words rolled around his mouth and then he swallowed.

Why should the elderly worry about missing people?

"It's okay. Look, I eat deliciously and feel great." Lin Yi said and deliberately exposed the muscles on his arms.

Grandma Li actually stretched out her hand and pinched it, "Not bad, just a little small."

Lin Yi answered amusedly: "Grandma, men can't talk about being small."

"Go away, you are a brat." Grandma Li glared at Lin Yi angrily, "You know how to talk, go back and rest quickly."

"Okay, then I'll come see you two next time." Lin Yi shouted to the old man on the sofa: "Grandpa, I'm leaving."

The old man did not look back, but still waved in response.

After Lin left, there was a clicking sound from Grandma Li's house. The old man sitting on the sofa stretched out his hand, twisted his neck off, and smashed it to the ground.

The head rolled around on the ground and rolled to Grandma Li's feet.

His face was full of pits and scars of varying depths, and his mouth was opening and closing with great force.

Grandma Li slowly knelt down and hugged the old grandfather's head, "The brat has grown up, and he doesn't even tell us what's on his mind."

The old man opened his mouth angrily and bit Grandma Li's hand, and his body that was sitting on the sofa started to move.

He slapped the sofa with both hands in protest.

"Okay, okay, he's not a brat, he's a good boy, he's a good boy." Grandma Li helplessly touched her old man's head, "Xiao Lin is really your treasure, I can't say anything about it."

"Those dirty things have become more and more restless recently. I think it's better for Xiao Li to send him away tomorrow."

The old man let go of his mouth, drooped his face, and turned his head to the side.

Grandma Li didn't care and continued: "But tonight I plan to go out and guard Xiaolin to prevent someone from running into the child. I don't know if our little old man is willing to come with us."

When the old man heard this, he turned his head back and rubbed Grandma Li's hand affectionately.
