Is it okay to run away with me?

Chapter 21 Past Life Memories 2

Chapter 21 Past Life Memories

Helios often sat by the water and happily looked at the lively ducks.

The mother kept needles and alcohol in the drawer, and would draw her own blood every month to feed Helios. Since he was a child, his mother has lied to him: "This is juice, isn't it delicious?"

I thought the days would continue like this, until Helios met the girl.

The girl lay injured in the alley, and said to Helios with tears in her eyes: "Don't catch me, please."

But Helios was just passing through.

He asked: "Who wants to arrest you?"

The girl shook her head and ran away warily. Her clothes were in tatters, which was a far cry from the neatly dressed Helios.

She must not have a mother, right? Helios thought: How pitiful.

Later, fate made them meet again. On his way home, Helios happened to bump into two men grabbing the girl and walking forward. The girl saw Helios and shouted, "Help!"

This time, she saw him as her only life-saving straw.

It doesn’t often snow in the south of the Yangtze River, but that day was even colder than snow. The girl’s mouth was so cold that she shouted repeatedly: “Help!”

Helios thought of his childhood when he was bullied in the vampire world, and felt pity.

Helios didn't know why he was so strong, so he simply drove away the two men.

The girl fell to the ground shivering, her face as pale as a piece of paper.

"Come, I will carry you home." Helios carried the girl along the water's edge. The girl kept crying and her stomach growled.

Helios comforted: "Don't cry, I will ask my mother to give you the most delicious juice."

"What's your name?" The girl cried and gasped loudly.

"My name is Helios, what's yours?" His back was very warm.

"I don't have a name, so I'm not afraid of your jokes. I don't have any family. I don't even know where I come from..." the girl said.

Helios asked: "Then what do you eat every day? Isn't there anyone to take care of you? Why would someone arrest you?"

"I used to pick some fruits to eat every day, but now it's cold and there are no fruits anymore, so I just pick some vegetable leaves." The girl's stomach growled again, "I don't know why they want to arrest me, there are always things coming. The most desperate people are here to catch me..."

"How pitiful..." Helios thought, she was just as pitiful as he had been.

"How about I protect you from now on?" Helios said again.

"Aren't you going to lie to me?" The girl was no longer wary of him.

Dusk lengthened their shadows, and the golden light fell on their heads. At that time, they were only fifteen-year-old children.

Helios took the girl home and asked her mother to give her "juice". Mother frowned and had no choice but to put red powder in the apple juice.

"So sweet!" the girl cheered and ate another plate of stewed potatoes.

Afterwards, the girl secretly left, fearing that she would bring trouble to Helios and his mother.

Helios promised to protect her, so he searched all the way and once again met the girl being chased by bad guys.

For three years, Helios fulfilled his promise and helped girls out of crisis again and again in this Jiangnan town.

The girl regarded Helios as her only god.

They would also sit hand in hand by the water and watch those funny ducks. Helios would often bring delicious apple juice from home. They would look at each other and smile, even if they didn't say anything, there was only one thing in each other's eyes. It’s just each other.

It wasn't until Helios reached the age of eighteen that their tragedy truly began.
