Chapter 57 The Villain
The painful roar echoed through the night sky, stirring up the gray fog not far away.

Nick's powerful force knocked the monster staggering, and it retreated more than three meters.

"Click", Crown caught a slight sound, and then he saw two pieces of the monster's fangs flying out.

The monster's head was hit with several cracks by the iron ball. Half of its face was bloody and fleshy, and one eye was missing.

Dark red spots of light shone in the gray mist, and in the blink of an eye, blood lines fell like rain curtains, attacking the people and monsters in the battle.

The sudden attack interrupted the attack rhythm of the priest and the demon hunter, preventing them from finishing up the monsters.

The priest raised his tower shield in front of him, and Geralt ducked behind him.

The blood line fell on the tower shield and made a "sizzling" sound, corroding the shield with pits.

The monster took this opportunity to flee towards the gray fog, and finally turned and stopped at the edge of the gray fog.

It opened its mouth wide and made a sucking motion, and Croun felt a gust of wind blowing behind him, making his whole body feel cold.

He vaguely saw transparent shadows flying past, one after another sinking into the monster's mouth.

Among the shadows were human figures, and many were in the shape of wild beasts.

The monster's eyes stared at the two people in the front with hatred, then turned around and disappeared into the gray mist.

"*#&*@"

A language that Kroun didn't understand came from the gray mist, and then the chaotic footsteps gradually faded away.

He walked forward: "Monsters are controlled by people?"

Nick's face was livid, as if he could drip water: "They are a group of cultists who believe in the old rulers. If I guess correctly, the tragedy in Zarudo Village was caused by them. These people want to slowly consume us."

"Father, the monster just now was not a normal creature, was it?" The demon hunter's voice was slightly hoarse.

After a few seconds of silence, Nick replied: "It is the product of forbidden flesh and blood alchemy."

"Hiss," Geralt took a breath of cold air, "Those pagans are crazy. The monsters created by the alchemy of flesh and blood will one day break free from the control of their masters, and who knows what kind of evil things will be created. That monster is already capable of devouring resentful spirits, so is the church just letting the evil thing grow and sitting idly by?"

"The people who believe in the Star Demon are themselves a group of lunatics with dark hearts," the priest explained:

"The church has its own difficulties. The arrival of the gray fog has disrupted our rhythm. Otherwise, we would have already surrounded and suppressed the evil thing."

He looked back at the blood-stained square: "We still need to deal with the aftermath. Do you want to help?"

Geralt shook his head: "Demon hunters are warriors who kill monsters, not priests of the Cult of Life who save lives and heal the wounded. I will calculate the employment fees, and the rest is not my responsibility."

. . . .

In the square, all the uninjured people were mobilized to clean up the stumps and broken arms on the ground. The sounds of crying and vomiting could be heard from time to time.

The injured were gathered at the church's training ground to receive treatment.

Nick stood at the edge of the field and loudly ordered: "Those who are bitten by monsters and are slightly injured should drink a bottle of No. [-] holy water; those who are seriously injured should drink a bottle of No. [-] holy water."

He tilted his head and lowered his voice: "If ordinary people start to mutate, it means that they cannot be saved, so they will be dealt with on the spot. You are here to supervise, is it okay?"

"Understood", Crown nodded.

He knew that the priest had to maintain his majestic and upright image, and there were some things that he couldn't do personally, such as dealing with believers on the spot.

The other party is implying that he should be a dirty glove.

He doesn't need to maintain a bright and majestic image, he just agrees.Just in time, he could do a little experiment.

The priest looked into his assistant's eyes to make sure he understood what he meant, and nodded with satisfaction.

He patted the other party on the shoulder: "Do a good job. You don't have the ridiculous sense of justice I had. That's good."

Crown tilted his head and looked at the priest's leaving figure, guessing what kind of past he might have had.

. . . .In the past, if holy water was an advanced medical resource used to treat illnesses and injuries, now it is a strategic resource and unnecessary waste must be reduced.

Crown began to perform his duties and assisted the nuns in giving holy water to the wounded.

A middle-aged man with thinning hair was bitten on the shoulder by a wild beast. The flesh was bloody and green mucus oozed from it.

The middle-aged man was in a very bad condition, and his eyes were bloodshot.

Aviana poured some holy water on his wound, a puff of black smoke came out, and his skin made a "sizzling" sound.

Perhaps due to the pain and the influence of an unknown force, the man suddenly knocked the nun to the ground.

"Ah" Avina lost her center of gravity and let out an exclamation, her head tilted up to the sky, her hands grabbing randomly to both sides, and most of the holy water spilled out.

Seeing that the nun was about to fall, Crown stepped forward, turned around to get out of the way of the fat woman, and hugged her from behind when she was about to fall to the ground.

"It feels good." After feeling the touch in his hand, he helped it up.

At this time, blood-red tears flowed from the middle-aged man's eyes.

"Ouch", a low roar came from his mouth, sounding like pain and madness.

"Pa", one of the man's eyes exploded like a blooming flower, and a cluster of green tentacles jumped out from it.

Immediately afterwards, vine-like patterns grew on his exposed skin, and his blood vessels were exposed like twisted centipedes.

His bones creaked and his body expanded at a visible rate.

The man suddenly raised his head and opened his mouth to roar.

He just opened his mouth and before his voice could rise, a dark gun barrel was already inserted into his mouth.

With the muzzle of the gun pointed upward, Crown pulled the trigger without any hesitation.

"Boom"

With a muffled sound, the bullet was fired from the top of his head, causing a puncture the size of a ping pong ball.

The training ground that was noisy just now suddenly became silent.

"You, you killed someone, he killed old Jerry," a voice twisted with fear shouted.

Pushing the still twitching corpse aside as if nothing had happened, Crown turned back to the nun and said, "Wash the blood stains with holy water."

The crowd exploded with accusations.

“Why does the church kill people instead of saving people?”

"Let him pay with his life."

"Bang", Crown fired into the air.

Everyone's voices were suppressed again, and Croun's tone was cold: "Take a good look at this Jerry. He still has some human characteristics."

"If you had the courage to fight, there wouldn't be so many people dying outside. You are afraid of wild beasts. Am I not even as good as those with four legs?"

He raised his revolver and blew into the muzzle of the gun: "I will save anyone I can. Those who have mutated into monsters are no longer the people you are familiar with. We will kill them without mercy."

Looking around, no one dared to look at him.

Crown felt that he looked like a villain at this moment, and no one dared to say a word under the power of Silver.

"Jingle Bell"

A crisp ringing sound came.
