Rebirth of top photographers

Chapter 31 Looking for a Crow

Chapter 31 Looking for a Crow
The work "Crow" is not the work of Masahisa Fukase alone.

This work was made possible thanks to two editors.

One was Yamagishi Shoji who helped him clarify his creative ideas, and the second was Hasegawa Akira who helped him find logical clues from the massive photos and organize them into a photography collection.

Without them, the world would not see "The Crow" with such a consistent content, but would only see the lonely scene of Hokkaido containing the crow.

This also illustrates the importance of editing in the creation of a photography portfolio.Just like when a novel is published, the editor plays the same role.

But Chen Pingsheng naturally doesn't have to go to that trouble, because he has the impression of the entire work in his mind. He doesn't need to shoot it exactly the same as the original version, and it's impossible to do it completely.

He wanted to extend his own style from this work rather than blindly imitate it.

After landing on the plane for five hours, Chen Pingsheng came out of Chaganhu Airport in SY City and looked at the night-shrouded streets and took a taxi.

His family's ancestral home is still some distance from the city. It is in a village. It is said that it has been abandoned for a long time and is uninhabitable.

It would be too late to go today. He planned to stay in the city for a night, then rent a car and buy some things.

When he arrived in Songyuan, his first feeling was that it was cold. Chen Pingsheng, who was used to living in the south, was not used to the polar seasons in the Northeast. Although it was only September, the temperature in Songyuan had already dropped to about 9 degrees. Looking at the weather forecast, The temperature will still drop over the next few days.

Fortunately, he had anticipated this situation and brought a down jacket and blanket in advance, because he has been worried about the weather in Jilin since he was a child.Who can imagine how it feels in winter, even if you put on the thickest down jacket, with three layers inside and three outside, you still feel freezing. Many people say that winter in the south is colder than in the north, either because they are making fun of it or because they have never really felt the cold.

No matter how cold the weather is in the south, you only need to wear a down jacket, and you don't even wear much underneath. But in the Northeast, if you go out wearing the same clothes and pants, you will be frozen to tears in a matter of minutes.

Especially in the season when the university is full of goose feathers, the bone-chilling cold is unforgettable.

The taxi driver was an authentic Northeastern person who spoke a warm Dazi dialect. While chatting with Chen Pingsheng about the differences between the south and the north, he occasionally cursed at the slow cars on the roadside.

"We're here, brother." The driver parked the car in front of an express hotel. After paying, Chen Pingsheng went to the trunk to carry his luggage. Unexpectedly, the driver also got out of the car and helped him carry it.

"Thank you bro."

"It's okay, we are all fellow villagers." During the chat, the driver learned that Chen Pingsheng's ancestral home was in Songyuan.

Although he came here not long ago, Chen Pingsheng is still impressed by the generous character of Northeastern people. This region, which developed due to the prosperity of the steel industry, is always full of human touch and slightly rough warmth.

After checking in at the hotel front desk, the first thing Chen Pingsheng did was to take out his camera from his bag. Starting tomorrow, he will enter an intense shooting state. There are not only crows in the work "Crow", but also crows. There are cities, people, and a certain ineffable perspective.

After taking a shower, he spread out his notes and looked at the rough composition he had drawn. There was a large area of black on it, which looked like a crow or a back.

Studying until midnight, Chen Pingsheng fell into sleep with his imagination about the work.

And in the dream, he turned into a crow.

It has sharp black feathers, piercing eyes, and a sharp beak that can quickly catch prey.He flew over towns, over carless roads, across the blue sky, over abandoned garbage, and even flew side by side with the giant thing in the sky. In the end, he accidentally got his feet caught in the rope of a roadside pole.He struggled, but the rope became tighter and tighter, and blood continued to drain from his body until the last drop.He did not die in the sky, but died in a simple rope.

When a passing child saw him, he curiously picked up a pole and swung his body.In the cold wind, his black body kept shaking, and finally fell to the snow.A black mark formed, gradually disappearing, as if it had merged with the earth.

"Huh!" Chen Pingsheng woke up suddenly, covering his head and sitting on the bedside. When he looked at the unfamiliar room environment around him, he broke out of his dream.Realizing that he is not a crow, but photographer Chen Pingsheng.

After washing his face neatly, brushing his teeth, and eating some instant noodles, Chen Pingsheng came out of the hotel and went to the car rental store in the city.

After chatting with the boss for a while, he rented an SUV.

Chen Pingsheng doesn't like low-slung cars. This may be due to the influence of his father, or it may be related to the fact that he gets dizzy when riding in a car.His father had always wanted to buy a Land Rover, but unfortunately life did not allow him to be so willful.

Every time he went out with Chen Pingsheng, his father would stare at the jeeps or SUVs on the roadside and talk to Chen Pingsheng about the advantages and disadvantages of those cars.

As a result, Chen Pingsheng, a car blind man, also knew some tricks.

Driving, he returned to the hotel and took everything with him, and then went to the supermarket to buy a batch of fast food, instant noodles, sausages, snacks, and mineral water.

He planned to go to the mountain and not come down until he finished photographing the crows.

In this way, Chen Pingsheng, who had prepared everything, drove back to his ancestral home.

His family's ancestral home was originally in a village, but then the number of people in the village became less and less, and the place was even moved, so the ancestral home happened to be abandoned.I heard from my father that except for the town two kilometers away, there weren't many people there. But it's just right for Chen Pingsheng. He doesn't like to be disturbed when shooting, so it's nice to be alone.

But when he finally arrived three hours later, he felt a little regretful.

Looking at the dilapidated wooden house surrounded by trees and grass not far away, he felt like he was not returning to his ancestral home, but like he had mistakenly entered a haunted house in some horror movie.

"Dumb~dumb~" Several crows flew over Chen Pingsheng's head and landed on a tree not far away. They turned their heads and stared at the uninvited guest with their dark eyes, as if they were curious.

Chen Pingsheng swallowed, tried to be as harmless as possible, and said hello to the next model with a smile.

"Hi, good afternoon."

"Dumb~" The crow responded after hearing the stranger's voice, then spread its wings and flew towards the sky.

Chen Pingsheng watched them rising and falling in the woods from a distance, and he began to feel gradually excited.

The models in the blockbuster are waiting for his shooting,

His work will soon become a reality here.

What could be more exciting for a photographer?
