Chapter 36 Become the shopkeeper

The couple tossed and turned sadly all night without falling asleep.

Jiang Mingyao and Mrs. Liu were celebrating the New Year at Shopkeeper Cheng's house with their two children.

Jiang Mingyao was actually very uncomfortable. He never thought that he would not go back to celebrate the New Year in the first year of separation.

Unfortunately it backfired.

For more than a month, he rented a room next to Shopkeeper Cheng's house and asked Mrs. Liu to take her children to visit Shopkeeper Cheng from time to time.

Seeing that more than a month had passed and shopkeeper Cheng still treated him lukewarmly, Jiang Mingyao was still a little disappointed.

But he also knows that this kind of thing cannot be rushed. After getting along for a long time, shopkeeper Cheng will naturally know how good he is.

As the Chinese New Year is approaching, the shop is closed on the 28th of the twelfth lunar month.

Jiang Mingyao planned to take his wife and children back to Huangtian Village in the afternoon.

Unexpectedly, while they were packing up, shopkeeper Cheng knocked on the door and said that if they had nowhere else to go, they could celebrate the New Year with him.

Jiang Mingyao agreed immediately.

But after sending shopkeeper Cheng away, he became embarrassed again.

Before moving here, he and Ms. Liu had agreed not to just say that they were separated.

Mrs. Liu often led her children to chat with the neighbors these days, and her words occasionally revealed that her parents-in-law were partial, her brother was overbearing, and her sister-in-law was mean.

This kind of thing always spreads quickly.

Within a month, the whole alley knew that the newly moved family had been kicked out of their home.

It’s not like no one doubts, why are my parents-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law like that, and they can still rent a house here?
The houses in this alley are not cheap. For the price of one room, you can rent an entire house near the city gate.

But as soon as he said this, someone refuted it.

"How is it impossible? If it wasn't true, who would live in a small room with two such young children?"

"Whatever you can endure, you must endure it for the sake of your children."

"Yes!"

In the end, the voice of agreement overwhelmed those few doubts.

"I'm afraid shopkeeper Cheng also believes it," Jiang Mingyao closed the door and whispered to Mrs. Liu, "What should we do now?"

From the moment she heard shopkeeper Cheng knocking on the door, Ms. Liu stuffed all her luggage back into the cabinet.

She was now unpacking the bag and taking out the clothes one by one. When she heard this, she rolled her eyes at Jiang Mingyao and said, "Of course I'm going. It finally worked, are you planning to let it go?"

"Alas," Jiang Mingyao sat dejectedly by the kang and sighed, "What should my parents do?"

Ms. Liu looked at him strangely: "It's not like we're not going back. We'll go back to our old house to pay New Year's greetings to our parents on the first day of the new year. Isn't this the case when families in the village are divided?"

She had not agreed to go back before, and it was easy for the neighbors to believe their words. She hurried back like this, wasn't she talking about herself?

Men tend not to listen to her.

It's fine now. If they have shopkeeper Cheng, it will be a matter of course for them not to go back.

Jiang Mingyao's inner discomfort reached its peak on the night of New Year's Eve.

I thought that since I had already stayed, I would have to perform well and make shopkeeper Cheng more satisfied.

They went over early in the morning to help prepare meals, and asked the children to accompany shopkeeper Cheng.

Shopkeeper Cheng was also very happy to see it. Mrs. Liu was joking next to her, and they were chatting and laughing, as if they were really enjoying family happiness.

In the afternoon, several more people came one after another.

There were children in their teens and men in their thirties, all carrying large and small bags in their hands.

Jiang Minghui thought that these were people who wanted to please Shopkeeper Cheng. He saw them being invited in to sit for a while and then sent out again. He felt quite satisfied in his heart. Shopkeeper Cheng must have taken a fancy to him if he kept him.

Unexpectedly, shopkeeper Xu went out again before dinner, and this time he brought three people back.

They are all boys in their teens and 20s.Now Jiang Mingyao couldn't convince himself anymore. He was indeed not the only person that Shopkeeper Cheng invited to celebrate the New Year with him.

But everyone else waited until later in the evening, and he was the only one who came early to do things, just like a prankster.

Because Mrs. Liu persuaded him about this matter, he also complained about Mrs. Liu in his heart.

On the way home, he just covered his head and walked forward without paying any attention to her.

The next day, I climbed out of bed early before dawn. After packing my things, I took my children to the car dealership to rent a mule cart.

Mrs. Liu had no choice but to follow quickly and slowly.

After getting on the mule cart, Liu finally found a chance to speak.

She pulled Jiang Mingyao over and said softly, "Mingyao, I know you are unhappy."

"But think about it, was Shopkeeper Cheng unhappy when we visited yesterday?"

"We went earlier than others, but shopkeeper Cheng didn't say anything."

"We were going to do something, and Shopkeeper Cheng didn't stop us."

Ms. Liu came closer, looked at Jiang Mingyao and said, "Mingyao, do you know what to make for New Year's Eve dinner?"

own family.

Although Jiang Mingyao still didn't look at Mrs. Liu, her heart was beating fast after what she said.

Yes, on New Year's Eve, who is not busy at home?

Would anyone really be willing to let someone they don’t like help them prepare New Year’s Eve dinner?

I don’t know if he was told the truth or because he didn’t want the villagers to see him.

In short, before the mule cart entered the village, there was nothing wrong between Jiang Mingyao and Liu.

It was windy outside and Jiang Mingyao asked the driver to stop directly in front of his house because he was afraid that the child would catch cold.

It's still early, and no one who wants to pay New Year's greetings has come yet.

When a few people entered the house, Jiang Minghui had just gone out to pay New Year greetings with his children.

I thought someone was coming to pay New Year's greetings, but Jiang Yongsheng came out of the house with a smile.

Unexpectedly, it was his youngest son Jiang Mingyao who came in.

He turned and walked toward the house.

Jiang Mingyao quickly followed and used the excuse he had discussed with his wife: "Dad, don't be angry. You must listen to my explanation."

While following Jiang Yongsheng step by step into the main room, he waved to Mrs. Liu, gesturing for her to bring the child over.

Jiang Yongsheng didn't want to hear it at first, but after seeing his grandchildren, whom he hadn't seen for more than a month, he finally softened his heart.

Jiang Mingyao breathed a sigh of relief: "Dad, our shop is closed late this year, so we really can't get the mule cart back."

"I hurried to the car dealership. Unexpectedly, most of the clerks in the car dealership had gone back to celebrate the New Year. There were only two or three people left who planned to make another fortune on New Year's Eve."

"I just didn't expect that they would all be booked during the day. I tried to persuade others and doubled the price before anyone was willing to send them to us at night."

He said and pushed his son: "But it's not easy to ask the child to follow the cold wind outside in the middle of the night, so I changed it to come here this morning."

Yang was extremely happy when they came in.

She filled a plate with melon seeds and peanuts, and took out snacks and fruits from the cabinet. She filled several plates and placed them on the Kang table.

Ms. Liu, who was pouring hot water next to her, fell down when she saw him. She took the kettle and returned to her room.

She's so old, Madam Liu cursed in her heart, people didn't even want to recognize her as their biological mother, yet she was rushing to serve her.

She served the family all day long, and she never saw the old woman serving her snacks.

Thinking of what the man said last night, Ms. Liu threw the rag in anger. As long as she was here, the old woman's granddaughter would not even think of entering her house!
