Chapter 544 "History of the Ming Dynasty" and "History of the Qing Dynasty" are completed

Forbidden City.

"Your Majesty, the National History Academy's "History of the Ming Dynasty" and "History of the Qing Dynasty" have been compiled and revised. Please review them."

"I understand."

Zhu Yijiong opened the two final drafts of "History of the Ming Dynasty" and "History of the Qing Dynasty" that Xiao Renfang had sent over. They were mainly the final drafts of the "History of the Qing Dynasty", and the "History of the Ming Dynasty" were all about the four emperors of the Southern Ming Dynasty.

The previous part had been submitted to the emperor in the past few years and had been reviewed intermittently.

According to a rough calculation, the revision of these two alternate history books took at least five years, and the emperor repeatedly came to see him during the process. There are indeed some sensitive contents that officials from the Academy of National History would not be able to write down. Especially in the eighteenth year of Nanming, it is not only a history of blood and tears, but also can treat hypotension.

After careful consideration, Zhu Yijiong finally gave his approval: "Lake history as a mirror and we must seek truth."

After all, he was not the emperor of the old era. Although due to the limitations of the times, he could not do much, that is, carry out limited reforms. But if he is just compiling history, he does not need to deliberately distort and beautify history in order to promote his own legitimacy, and he does not need the approval of scholars all over the world.

Anyway, his reputation as a tyrant has been nailed down by scholars all over the world. There is no need to expect that a history book can change anything.

Zhu Yijiong carefully read through the final drafts of the two history books, and soon felt his blood pressure rising: "Well, there are no problems with "History of the Qing Dynasty" and "History of the Ming Dynasty: Emperors of the Southern Ming Dynasty". Both can be handed over to the cabinet for signing, and then printed and distributed with the Propaganda Department Come on! Don’t set the price too high, just sell it as a normal historical pickaxe.”

"The minister obeys the order."

Xiao Renfang quickly responded with his hands raised.

After saying that, I suddenly felt relieved, and the big rock that was originally hanging finally settled.

From the time when I first took over the National History Institute, I was very enthusiastic about compiling the history of the two dynasties, to the subsequent hard work and spending money. This kind of history compilation is really not something ordinary people can do.

However, if he were given a choice again, he would still obediently accept the order and come to take charge of the Academy of National History. After all, this is a good thing that will go down in history, and the emperor of the new Ming Dynasty also changed all previous dynasties, and the history books he compiled were to be published and published all over the world for ordinary people to watch.

This is fame, and no one can refuse it.

Moreover, in fact, the National History Academy of the Ming Dynasty and the New Dynasty compiled and compiled history very slowly. Because Xiao Renfang has been checking text by text, and has to submit it to the emperor for review and revision, removing those that are obviously not in line with reality but flatter the emperor.

It took less than a year to compile "History of the Yuan Dynasty" in the former Ming Dynasty, and it also took time for visits and investigations. The history of other dynasties also took several to ten years to compile.

The "History of the Ming Dynasty" compiled by the New Ming Dynasty has almost been completed. As for why it took ten years for the Manchu and Qing Dynasties to officially complete the book. It took more than 90 years, which is the best among all dynasties.

It can only be said that it is no wonder that later generations despise the accuracy of "History of the Ming Dynasty".

Zhu Yijiong said: "Now that "History of the Ming Dynasty" and "History of the Qing Dynasty" have been written, the Academy of National History will collaborate with the Ministry of Rites and the Ministry of Household Affairs to jointly revise the "Chinese Dictionary"!"

This "Chinese Dictionary" is not that "Chinese Dictionary", but a general Chinese dictionary for all ethnic groups in China in a broad sense. There must be more than one, such as Miao-Han Dictionary, Yao-Han Dictionary, Zhuang-Chinese Dictionary... and so on.

At this stage, only the Yao-Chinese dictionary and the Zhuang-Chinese dictionary have been written. The Miao-Chinese dictionary is still in the process of compilation. The main work is to find the characters in these minority languages that are similar to the Chinese characters. If they are not similar, then directly translate and assimilate them. This work has been done by the Ministry of Rites for a long time. Now that the Academy of National History has completed the revision of the history books, it can free up some time to cooperate with the Ministry of Rites and the Ministry of Households in revising the "Chinese Dictionary" of each ethnic group.

This matter is imminent. Guangxi, southern Hunan, southwest and other places can be said to be okay. The Zhuang people in Guangxi are already highly Chinese-speaking. Southern Hunan and southwest either have long-term wars that consume a large number of people, or they simply have autonomy from the chieftains and just gradually return to their hometowns.

But it is hard to say about the Yue people in Guangnan. Although this place has been actually controlled by the Ming Dynasty and has been deeply influenced by the Chinese cultural system, 99% of the people here are still Yue people.

Han people immigrate here very slowly. Even if they immigrate, it will be difficult to integrate for a while. Basically, Han people belong to Han people's villages and towns, and the Yue people belong to Yue people's territory.

The imperial court's policy of encouraging intermarriage was very slow to bear fruit, not only because the Han people were unwilling to marry these "barbarians" in Guangnan, but also because the two parties did not understand each other's language.

This led to frequent conflicts between Han and Vietnam. In many cases, it was not deliberately instigated by Guangnan officials, but purely caused by language communication barriers. Guangnan officials inevitably had serious tendencies when mediating.

This is not even a deliberate discrimination against the people of Guangnan. The imperial court's officials in the southwest and other places also tended to pay more attention to Han people when selecting and promoting local officials.

It’s just that there are very few officials from the Shaomin at this stage, and in these prefectures and counties in Guangxi, the Shaomin, who are mainly Zhuang people, are highly Sinicized. Most of the areas where they live are filled with Zhuang officials, so even if they tend to be Han people, they can always be left to the Zhuang people. There are many opportunities for the people, and the problems are not outstanding.

The situation in Guangnan Province was much more serious. In order to better rule the place, the officials of Guangnan deliberately provoked a civil uprising in Guangnan and killed a group of them. They also began to vigorously promote Han officials in Guangnan. If there were not enough Han people, they would use Miao and Yue people who could speak Chinese.

There are many Miao people in Guangnan. These Guangnan Miao people were also the first Miao people to immigrate from China. In later generations, they had spread almost all over Southeast Asia. Because the Miao ethnic group is too large, they are feared by the Yue people, who treat them as second-class citizens and suppress them.

Of course, the Han people used to be second-class citizens, but not anymore.

As a large Chinese family, the Miao people are definitely closer to the Han people than the Yue people who have been separated for a long time and established an independent country. Moreover, the Han and Miao people also have a lot of understanding in terms of language.

The Guangnan government placed great emphasis on the Han and Miao people, but deliberately ignored the Yue officials.

These Yue people are naturally dissatisfied. Although they will not lead to riots, they are acting against the will and conflicts are almost endless.

After all, the Han people were powerful and dominated them. They recognized this, but why could the Miao people drink soup with them and even step on their heads? These Miao people used to be second-class citizens, and their numbers were not as large as the Yue people.

It can be said that it has only been a year since the Guangnan Civil War, but Cui Sheng, the governor of Guangnan, has personally delivered more than one memorial about the sudden increase in conflicts between the Han-Vietnamese and Miao-Vietnam in Guangnan.

Although it has not reached a very serious stage, after all, the Ming army has just killed a river of blood in Guangnan, and the remaining power is still there, but in the long run, problems will definitely arise.

And you can't hold it down. If you hold it down all the time, something will happen.

We can only start with education and writing. It’s just that the Han officials in Guangnan cannot learn Vietnamese. We need to further popularize Chinese characters so that the Vietnamese people here can learn to understand Chinese characters and Chinese, and break down the language barriers on both sides.

The Academy of National History cooperates with the Ministry of Rites and the Ministry of Households to revise the "Chinese Dictionary" of various ethnic groups. It is only one step. It also needs to send more schools to Guangnan, Southwest and other areas with small populations.

This is a long-term project!
