Chapter 3 Rebirth 3
"Sister Hua." A clear voice came. Hua Shu looked up and saw a little girl about ten years old walking quickly under the scorching sun.

She remembered that this girl was Sun Lan, who was two years younger than her.

Sun Lan's mother died due to dystocia. Later, her father married her stepmother and was abused by her stepmother since she was a child. When she was eight years old, her father died in an accident at a construction site. Her stepmother remarried with her biological daughter, and Sun Lan was left in an orphanage.

She still remembered that when the orphanage was demolished, Sun Lan was almost 12 years old. Because most families were unwilling to adopt older children, it took a while before she was adopted by a rural couple. However, she later learned that the couple had no good intentions at all, but were raising a daughter-in-law for their stupid son.

She didn't know much about Sun Lan. She only heard that the fool only had the intelligence of a three- or four-year-old and didn't know anything. Occasionally he would hit people when he got upset. Sun Lan not only had to take on the work at home and outside the home, , but also had to bear the violence of fools, and had a very difficult life.

While she was lost in thought, Sun Lan had already come to her. She looked up at her thin face that was reddened by the sun, stretched out her thin palm to touch her forehead, and looked at her worriedly like a little adult. I was sweating profusely and didn't even bother to wipe it off.

"It's still burning. Why is Sister Hua up? Go back to bed and lie down." Sun Lan retracted her hand and quickly helped Hua Shu back to the room.

Sun Lan was thin but very strong, and it took almost no effort to support Hua Shu. Hua Shu's legs were indeed weak, so she let her help her back to the house.

After Hua Shu sat down on the bed, she noticed that Sun Lan was carrying a small plastic bag. Looking at the contents, it seemed that they were medicines dispensed by a pharmacy.

"Xiaolan?" Hua Shu tried to speak, but until now she still couldn't believe that what she saw before her was real.

"Hmm? Sister, do you want some water?" Sun Lan answered her, put the plastic bag on the small square table, poured her a glass of warm water, and gave her antipyretic medicine, "Other medicines should be taken after meals, sister. Take the fever-reducing medicine and sleep for a while. I’ll do the laundry first and cook when everyone comes back.”

"Everyone?" Upon hearing this word, young faces appeared in Hua Shu's mind.

Sun Lan thought she was asking about the whereabouts of the others, so she replied: "Aunt He took Xiaobin and Xiaoyou to the hospital, Xiaoya and Xiaoqing took the other children to watch the dragon boat, but the sun is getting bigger and bigger, everyone should be very nervous Will be back soon."

Hua Shu was excited, but at a loss. She quickly lowered her head to hide her emotions. When her eyes touched her hands, she realized belatedly that her palms were so thin and her arms were so slender.

"What day is today?" Hua Shu asked softly. Her voice was a little hoarse because of her fever, and her throat hurt slightly when she spoke.

"Today is June 6th, the Dragon Boat Festival." Sun Lan didn't think anything else, just thinking that Hua Shu had been sick for a few days and had forgotten the time.

Hua Shu suppressed the shock and excitement in her heart, quietly took the antipyretic medicine, and gave the empty water glass to Sun Lan.

"Go and do your work, I'll sit by myself for a while."

"Okay, I'm going out first. Sister, you must have a good rest and don't go out to bask in the sun anymore." Sun Lan solemnly warned, with her mature and steady appearance, she seemed more like a sister than Hua Shu.

The excited Hua Shu couldn't care less about being funny and nodded seriously. After watching her leave, she couldn't wait to get up and go to the small desk.

There was a plastic round mirror hanging on the wall next to the small desk.

Hua Shu looked at herself in the mirror. Although she was almost sure, she was still shocked when she really saw her current appearance.

In the mirror, she has a childish and thin face, with an abnormal blush due to illness. Even though she has a pair of deep eyes that are different from those of a child, she still looks like a child of twelve or thirteen years old.
