The Walking Dead: Rebuild

Chapter 13 Leading away the corpses

Chapter 13 Leading away the corpses
Rongguang Avenue, commercial street.

Leon sat in a blue-gray Ford Mondeo and lit a cigar for himself.

After coming to this world, he has almost become obsessed with cigars. The taste is mellow and the aroma is charming. One sip makes people happy physically and mentally, giving him a sense of transcendence.

Before Leon could set off, Daryl came over again and said softly:
"Boss, why not let me do this?"

"If Moore knew that I let you do such a dangerous thing, he would laugh at me for a whole month."

Leon stared at Daryl's face for a while. This young man was about the same age as him, but under his dull and fierce face, there was a sincere heart. He patted Daryl's shoulder and said sincerely :
"Next time, Daryl, you're not ready yet. When you really adapt to this world, I will rely on you even more."

Daryl was silent for a few seconds, looked into Leon's eyes, nodded, and said:
"I made a note, boss, please let me go next time."

The blue-grey Ford sedan drove into the commercial street under the watchful eyes of everyone.

Driving on the Avenue of Glory, Leon observed and carefully bypassed the obstacles on the road.

The shops here are uniformly decorated in a relatively sophisticated and simple manner, with transparent glass doors and windows, bright-colored walls and floors, and bright spray-painted signboards, which are very in line with the preferences of contemporary young people.

Cafes, milk tea shops, KFC, department stores, Apple mobile life stores, there are many types of stores, everything you need.

There are many young zombies in brightly dressed suits and leather shoes wandering on the road.

Presumably before the disaster, this was a quite prosperous commercial center popular with young people.

There will definitely be a lot of good stuff, Leon thought, and soon he drove the car to No. 108.

Arriving at the designated location, he quickly turned the car around and knocked away two zombies who wanted to surround him.

With his right hand, he increased the volume of the car music player on the car to maximum volume and set it to the external playback mode.

He had chosen this car in advance, and it had the function of playing music, just like the square dance aunt’s speakers.

A very classic rock music "Paint It, Black" by the Rolling Stones suddenly blasted in the street.

I see a red door and I want it painted black
I see a red door and I wish it were painted black

No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
There is no color anymore, I want them to be black

. . . . .

The loud music immediately woke up all the nearby zombies. They raised their ugly and ferocious rotten faces, swayed their bodies, and swayed towards the blue-grey Ford.

Leon didn't speed up. He stayed in a low-speed sliding gear, stopping and speeding up, tempting the zombies to follow him forward slowly.

The horn was pressed several times from time to time, and soon, a large black group of corpses formed behind the blue-gray Ford.

Leon took them through interstate highway intersections, gas stations, Wal-Mart department stores, and No. 168 Rongguang Avenue.

Ten minutes later, the Ford drove three to four kilometers, and a huge group of nearly a thousand zombies had formed 50 meters behind the car. They bared their teeth and claws, roared randomly, and crowded together, almost occupying the entire street.

Leon observed while driving and adjusted the direction of the car. He took out a prepared stone from the passenger side and gently pressed it on the accelerator.

He opened the car door, rolled over, and ran out of the car.

The driverless vehicle was still moving forward slowly, carrying the corpses with it and not knowing where it would stop.

This is a technique learned from the old Moore in the TV series.

He didn't dare to stay, so he got out of the car and immediately rushed to a house with an open door.

As soon as he entered the door, two roars came from the living room of the house, and two zombies wearing home clothes discovered him.Leon took out the silenced pistol from his waist without even thinking about it.

puff!puff!puff!puff!
While moving, he poured four or five bullets into the zombies' heads, knocking them to the ground.

Quickly arriving at the second half of the house, Leon sadly discovered that the house had no back door, preventing him from opening the door and leaving.

Fortunately, they used large glass sliding windows. Without any time to think, Leon opened the window bolt, bowed and climbed out of the window.

Finally, he was completely out of sight of the zombies.

Leon breathed a sigh of relief quietly. He avoided the possible route of the corpses and walked from another street towards the Avenue of Glory.

For a distance of three to four kilometers, you have to walk on foot to avoid the harassment of zombies and avoid large groups of zombies.

After nearly an hour of hiding and fighting, Leon returned to the vicinity of No. 168 Rongguang Avenue.

Leon experienced firsthand that it was indeed very dangerous for an ordinary person to survive in this kind of world.

After traveling such a long way, even a guy like him who has unique abilities and whose physical fitness is close to the peak of ordinary people feels exhausted, and his clothes are covered with dirty blood and scraps of flesh.

He found that the road had been blocked by a red heavy-duty truck. More than a dozen zombies were surrounding the iron exterior of the truck, scratching and beating randomly without injuring it at all.

It seems that Glenn and others have completed their mission.

Leon thought for a while and decided to be on the safe side and not attack the corpses head-on. The 4-meter-tall truck was difficult to climb over without tools.

After spending more than an hour running, he finally returned to Rongguang Avenue Commercial Street from the intersection of the interstate highway.

Entering the street, the battle between Daryl and others is not over yet.

Darryl, Glenn, and T-boy were all wearing protective police explosion-proof uniforms and holding half-meter-long machetes in their hands. They formed a simple mutual protection formation. They cooperated with each other, advancing and retreating, and were fighting with each other. Seven or eight zombies fought to kill.

Dozens of zombie corpses were scattered on the road in the commercial street, obviously the result of their battle.

Approaching their position in silence, Leon attacked from the side. He took out a silenced pistol and emptied a magazine, helping them end the battle.

When the battle was over, Daryl, Glenn, and T-boy all breathed a sigh of relief.

Glenn has a relatively outgoing personality. He shook his arm that was numb from exertion, his eyes were bright, and he looked at Leon who was covered in blood with admiration, and said:
"It's amazing, boss. You just used a car to lure away hundreds of zombies."

"Perhaps, we can also use this method to lure away all the zombies in the city."

Leon took out a few cigars from his waist pocket, threw them to everyone, lit them for himself, shook his head lightly and said:

"It's not that simple, Glenn."

"Zombies are attracted by the sound and can easily form a swarm effect and will be lured away by the sound."

"But similarly, as long as we make some slightly louder noises, they will be attracted back one after another."

"The local population of Atlanta is over 50. Adding residents in surrounding areas and the floating population in the city, the number of zombies in the city center is estimated to be over one million."

"What if we fail to kill these zombies and instead choose to lure them away and let them linger near us."

"One day, we will be surrounded by millions of zombies and die here."
