Warhammer 40: Gods Of Mortals

Chapter 87 Deserving it

Chapter 87 Deserving it
The war on the upper nest is still going on, and all the members of the First Army who are focused on the battle don't know what happened at the top of the tower.

This is an all-out war, so the 47th Regiment led by Klein did not defend the forts and people in the bottom nest that did not need to be defended by others, but participated in this offensive battle.

In a block on the edge of the eastern part of the Upper Nest, Klein sat in a modified Leman Russ tank, directing the battle while staring at the road ahead.

Most of the enemies are running away, but a small number of persisting enemies realize their own doom, and they choose to carry out a crazy attack with explosive packs on their backs.

Klein saw that the counterattacks on the front line suddenly became very rare, and then some enemies leaned out from the trenches or buildings, untied the smoke bombs from their waists and threw them out.

The entire block was quickly enveloped in thick smoke.

"Turn on thermal imaging." Klein ordered in the group communication channel.

Without his order, the soldiers of the 47th Regiment had already turned on the thermal imaging function of the Power Armor. The smoke looked like a fog in the field of vision. Not only did it not have the effect of covering the enemy, but it even made the outline of the enemy appear more clearly.

The enemy is not yet aware of this situation, they run out of trenches or buildings, carrying all kinds of explosives on their backs.

Some are melta bombs, some are a bunch of hand grenades stuck together, some are carrying a bag full of powdered explosives...

"Kill them." Klein ordered.

The drone that generated the gravity shield temporarily turned off the gravity shield, the laser rifles in the hands of the infantry began to fire, the main guns of the tank fired, and even the heavy bolters on the armor on the left and right sides of the turret began to fire.

The enemies were harvested in pieces, fell one by one or were smashed by heavy weapons, and the explosives on their bodies were also detonated.

The violent explosions produced by various explosives made the ground tremble. The deaf explosion sound was filtered by the power armor, and the overwhelming shrapnel and rubble were intercepted by the reopened gravity shield.

"Go, go." Klein ordered eagerly.

The 47th regiment immediately started biological scanning and advanced, and came to the enemy's position.

The position is in the very center of this block, and the enemy has arranged various heavy weapons and fortifications on luxurious buildings or roads.

These arrangements had no effect, and Klein didn't care about them, but when the tank he was riding floated over a large number of obstacles to the center of the position, Klein immediately pushed open the hatch and leaned half of his body out of the turret, observing a mansion-like building directly in front of him.

The building was half destroyed by artillery fire.

"Go and see...go and see if there are any living people inside." Klein ordered to the guards.

"Sir, the detection results of the biological scan show that..."

"Go and see, please."

The guard originally wanted to say that the biological scan results showed that there was no living person nearby other than himself, but he found that Klein was in an unusual state at this time, so he went into the mansion to check.

The result was not unexpected.

"Report, there is no one inside, I only found some enemy corpses in the remaining bedrooms and kitchen."

"call……"

After hearing the news that there were no living people inside, Klein breathed a sigh of relief. He retracted into the tank and said to the surrounding crew: "There are no civilian corpses here, which means that the civilians here are not dead, right?"

The crew stared wide-eyed, not knowing how to respond.

Compared to people outside, these crews knew Klein's situation better. They knew that the building Klein asked the guards to investigate was his home.

Just when Klein was about to say something, Qin Mo's holographic image appeared on the command equipment in front of him.

"Legion Commander." Klein saluted as much as possible in the narrow cabin.

"I found something on the top of the tower, about your family." Qin Mo said, "But I'm not sure if you can accept it."

When Klein heard this sentence, he realized what Qin Mo wanted to say. He just wanted to know if his family members were still alive, so he nodded.

Qin Mo on the holographic image clicked on the air a few times, and then a video was transmitted to Klein's power armor.

Klein saw his grandfather and other family members entered the cage together, and they looked relaxed at first, as if they were about to be rescued.

After a while, their expressions became terrified again, as if they realized that the cage they were in was a cage.

The flames burned in the air, and the flames gradually turned blue, and all the people in the cage were burned to ashes.

After watching the video, Klein trembled all over and opened his mouth to say something or cry out, but his voice was squeezed in his throat and he couldn't make it out. Only a slight whine came out of his throat.

His reaction grew more and more violent, then gradually subsided, and finally became expressionless.

"Get out of the tank and get ready for teleportation, temporarily handing over your command to the adjutant." Qin Mo ordered, "If you want to talk to someone, I'm in the cave in the fortress."

"They deserve it." Klein suddenly said icy words, "Why didn't they listen to me and go to the bottom nest with me? These short-sighted fools deserved to end like this!"

Klein is now feeling angry. He is not ignoring his family members. In fact, he returned to the family during the confrontation period when there was no war, and suggested that everyone go to New Cato together.

Everyone in the entire family is different from other idiots in the upper nest or the spire. They are either generals who have studied in military academy, or architects who are proficient in engineering skills. New Katori will have their place.

Then no one listened.

After feeling the pain as a family member, Klein looked at it from his own point of view. He really felt that his family members deserved it, because it wasn't that they weren't given a chance.

"Are you sure you can continue to assume command duties?" Qin Mo asked.

"I'm sure I can." Klein nodded calmly.

Qin Mo believed it, because he knew that Klein was not an emotional person, so he didn't interfere too much.

"Continue to fight." Qin Mo turned off the communication.

Klein immediately operated the equipment in front of him, used a larger range of biological scanning to confirm the positions of friendly troops and enemies, and then calmly issued an order: "Everyone keep moving forward, remember our rules: biological scanning must take precedence over our actions in street fighting."

The 47th regiment continued to fight. They moved forward while turning on the biological scan, and went to the next position that needed to be attacked.

Occasionally, enemies located in buildings next to the street can be scanned on the road. This is usually a firepower point left by the enemy to block passing troops.

But these firepower points will be noticed by the guards before firing, and then the guards fly over from nowhere and smash into the building under the eyes of everyone in the regular army, smashing the entire building after a random hit.

When the regular troops marched, the artillery shells had already destroyed large buildings and fortifications one step ahead of them, and when most of the enemies had already fled, they cleaned up the brave and tenacious defenders on the position again.

Even if it is limited by the terrain of the upper nest and cannot carry out an instant teleportation assault, the First Army still has the combat power to sweep the enemy.
