Chapter 188 The Buddha is the Tao
[Zi Zhi Tong Jian summed up the famous people in the Wei and Jin Dynasties very well:

Those who enter the officialdom regard earning as the most precious and despise the righteous, and those who become officials regard the sky as the highest and laugh hard.

The lazy look down on hard work, and the empty look down on those who do things.

During this period, the Jin Dynasty even invented a word called vulgar officials, which was used by romantic and famous scholars to belittle those officials who did not fit in.

For example, Liu Song, who governed the place with his heart, and Fu Xian, who was a dignified official and hated evil like a hatred, were ridiculed by celebrities as "vulgar officials".

And the past has passed thousands of years, looking back now, what does the real Wei and Jin character look like?

It is Zu Ti, a national hero who hears the chicken dance, cares about the people, and is determined to go to the Northern Expedition, hit the oars across the river, and regain the lost land.

It was Liu Kun who defended Jinyang alone for nine years during the Yongjia Rebellion, and finally went to his death calmly after reciting "what does it mean to make steel and turn it into soft fingers".

It is Huan Wen who knows the sufferings of the people, restrains cronies, reforms officials, and is better than Cao Cao in his heroic posture.

It is Shi Le, Liu Yuan, and Li Te who started in the grass, broke the shackles of the powerful, and will soar into the sky in the midst of the storm.

These clank and iron bones that don't fit in with the aristocratic family are better than the fragile skin and soft bones of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. 】

For everyone in the Chengdu government office, everyone is in troubled times, so what can they do?

As a result, the troubled times of the Wei and Jin Dynasties frequently opened their eyes to them.

But I can still comfort myself in the front, it's a luxury, a lustful nature, that's all.

But... There are seven people who don't like to wear clothes and humiliate customers?
And he can still be called the Seven Sages?Everyone in the hall, look at me, and I'll look at you.

In the middle, there are two military generals staring around with their eyes wide open.

Although he didn't say a word, his eyes seemed to say everything.

Zhang Song, who is short in stature, immediately jumped up:
"General Yide, don't you think I'm waiting like that absurd person?"

Liu Bei directly grabbed Zhang Song's sleeve with one hand to suppress:
"Zhang Ziqiao is widely rumored to be in Shu because of his talent, not his reputation. Why should he worry about this?"

Zhang Song changed his attitude by the way, weeping with gratitude:

"The one who knows the pines is none other than the lord!"

For a moment, Kong Ming felt that the lord's "intimate little padded jacket" seemed to have many pieces...

After shaking my head off the thought, I remembered another old thing:
"It's been more than ten years since you Zhengping beat the drums and scolded Cao."

So they all sighed during the banquet, if it is said that celebrities are naked, the first thing they think of in this troubled world is this madman.

Zhang Song also heard about it in Sichuan, but he didn't know it very well, so he asked:

"I heard that you and Cao have never had any enmity, but they scolded Cao naked just because Cao thief didn't show him a seat?"

Pang Tong sneered: "You Zhengping are from Pingyuan County. The Cao thief slaughtered Xuzhou. You Zhengping had to leave your hometown and take refuge in Jingzhou. How come you have no hatred?"

But it's not over yet, Pang Tong shook his head and continued:
"Later, You Zhengping went to Xudu to serve as an official. At that time, Cao Cao was appointed as Sikong to open the mansion, and he blocked talented people from it. You Zhengping also suffered from it, so the two became enmity."

Zhang Song didn't expect there to be so much inside information, and when he thought about Cao's background, he could understand it:

"In this way, how unbearable is this Wei and Jin celebrity?"

Seeing what happened to Wang Yan, Zhang Fei expressed his thoughts bluntly:

"Brother, now it seems that the Xiongnu Liu has destroyed the Jin Dynasty, and it seems that it is not bad."

"It's hard for the Xiongnu Liu to survive the Jin Dynasty, right?"

Liu Bei stared at the light curtain and sat speechless, and had a deep understanding of the word "better than bad" that the light curtain had said before.

Laziness can't be ridiculed, and those who do nothing are pointing and pointing at those who are pragmatic. This imperial court is really rotten from the root.

Zhang Fei is very interested in Shi Le:
"It's a wonderful person to kill by burying him in an earthen wall."

Regarding Wang Yan's death, I can only hold a contemptuous smile:
"In this Jin Dynasty, the princes of the Manchu Dynasty are all such moths?"

It would be a waste to pay more attention to such people.

Therefore, Pang Tong moved his gaze to the end and finally praised:
"This Jin also has such an iron-framed righteous man, but it is a bit of a shame for this Jin."

Kong Ming stared at Zuti's title of national hero, looked again and again, and finally shook his head and sighed:
"I wish I could kill Sima Yi."

Zhang Fei comforted:
"It's okay, military commander. When I catch you later, I'll build a wall for you. You can choose any earth wall or stone wall, and bury it wherever you want."

Kong Ming didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and didn't bother to explain in detail that it was Sima Yi, the traitor of the Han people, that he wanted to kill.

[And some people may think of another well-known theory of Tan Kong when they see Wukong in the metaphysics of Wei and Jin, and that is Buddhism.

Before the rise of metaphysics in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, the sages of the Han Dynasty had already completed the first wave of localization of Buddhism through the method of Geyi.

To put it simply, through translation and annotation, the original Indian Buddhism was dismembered and fragmented, and finally reorganized into Buddhism with Chinese characteristics.

But even after this wave of localization transformation, the concept of "emptiness" in Buddhism is difficult to explain clearly, and basically can only be described with the help of Confucian and Taoist classics.

Later, metaphysics emerged in the Wei and Jin Dynasties, and the word "nothing" was extracted from Mr. Zhuang.

The Buddhists were overjoyed when they saw it: This is similar to the "emptiness" of our Buddhism.

Although there are quite a lot of differences inside, in order to catch up with the metaphysics of the Wei and Jin Dynasties to spread beliefs, Buddhism began a second wave of localization. Almost all the original content of Hinduism was abandoned, and only the Madhyamika Prajna thought was retained. Introduced the Taoist thought of Wei Jin Metaphysics.

In this way, Geyi Buddhism was formed, or there is a more popular name: Zen.

Representatives of this period were Tiantai Sect and Huayan Sect, and the spread of Buddhism also entered its first heyday.

Looking back at the history, you will find that it is not complicated. From the Yellow Turban Uprising to the founding of the Tang Dynasty, there have been almost no interruptions in the middle 500 years of war.

The precariousness of the war caused everyone from the princes and nobles to the people of Guizhou to feel disillusioned with the world.

And Buddhism can promise people an "afterlife" that cannot be verified, and it can be called a perfect empty promise.

During the period of the Five Hu and Sixteen Kingdoms, there were many monarchs of different races. In their view, Buddhism was beneficial to their rule, so they would invest money to support its development.

It is the same even for the upper class. After all, even if you are a king, if you look back at the century-old history, you kill me and I kill you, father kills son, brother kills brother, minister kills the king and so on.

Buddhism provides a paralyzing effect comparable to Wei Jin metaphysics.

So in this process, Buddhism has gradually flourished a bit too much. After all, we can all recite that poem:

In the 480 temples of the Southern Dynasties, how many buildings were in the mist and rain.

The Southern Dynasty is talking about Nanliang, but the real number of Buddhist temples must be more than this. Emperor Wu of Liang became a monk four times, and almost gave the entire Nanliang alms. At least [-] Buddhist temples were built. hands, really only more.

The Buddhist temple is extremely magnificent, and the assets of the monks and nuns are rich and fertile, with tens of thousands of people.

Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty was only the most famous believer in Buddhism at that time. The three masters of Later Liang Dynasty and the emperors of Chen Dynasty all basically received ordination to worship Buddhism and built pagodas and temples extensively.

Not to mention the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Buddhism basically fell silent for a while in the early days of Erfeng, and entered a heyday after Xuanzang returned to China.

Looking back now, Xuanzang is undoubtedly a great person. He traveled 17 miles and traveled 130 countries in [-] years of studying Buddhist scriptures, and completed it by himself. This unimaginable experience itself is a precious treasure of our own nation. one of culture. 】

By the way, Xuanzang's road map for his westward journey was released on the light curtain.

[More importantly, learning from scriptures eventually promoted the further transformation of Geyi Buddhism. In the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, Confucianism, which tried to return to ancient times, and Taoism, which had been open for many years, were basically hanged and beaten by Buddhists at the level of philosophical speculation.

In order to adapt to this change, Confucianism and Taoism had to strive for change, constantly referring to the other two to enrich their own philosophical thoughts, and were forced to roll up.

Finally, in the early Northern Song Dynasty, Song Confucianism combined the developed Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism into one, and came up with Neo-Confucianism. After that, Buddhism in the political field has no chance of turning around. ] Zhang Fei once again felt that he had read too few books, but after grasping the key words, he asked:
"Buddha is the Tao?"

Kong Ming laughed loudly, patted Zhang Fei on the shoulder and said:
"Yide, oh Yide, stupid? How wise!"

Zhang Fei smiled and praised himself like a military adviser, so he readily agreed.

Kong Ming sorted out the context from it, and wrote it down:

Zhuang Laozhi, Wei Jin Metaphysics, Geyi Zen, New Confucianism.

Pang Tong concluded: "It is no wonder that later generations claim the progress of society."

"Productivity needs to be improved, the system needs to be improved, and even theories need to be continuously improved."

Zhang Song, who was watching by the side, also nodded in agreement, and said according to his own understanding:

"There are natural dangers in Shu, which are easy to defend and difficult to attack, and also cut off communication with famous scholars from the outside world. Therefore, scholars in Shu can not talk as well as famous scholars in the Central Plains."

"In other words, is the development of Central Shu relatively slow or stagnant?"

Kong Ming nodded: "philosophy, wisdom, this philosophy should be a theory that guides people to know the world like the sages?"

This conjecture was quickly put down, after all, Kong Ming was the only one among them who had actually read Buddhist scriptures.

Liu Ba and Mi Zhu focused on the word "cheque" and whispered to each other.

Liu Bei looked at the reason for the rise of Buddhism and couldn't bear it for the people:
"People in this troubled world are really not as good as Taiping dogs."

Everyone was silent, only Zhang Fei rubbed his hands excitedly:

"Brother, I don't agree with you when you say this."

Everyone looked sideways for a moment, and mourned in advance for those wealthy families who might suffer bad luck in the future.

But Liu Bei was a little angry when he looked at Emperor Wu of Liang:

"This Emperor Wu of Liang... like that Ruo Rong, is a national traitor!"

"Ze Rong invaded and occupied Xiapiliang to build temples for monks and nuns, and Emperor Wu of Liang spent state money to build pagodas and statues."

"The wealth that should have been used to enrich the country and strengthen the county has been turned into a temple to pray for the afterlife."

"This Emperor Wu of Liang, treats a country as a trifling matter, it's such a waste!"

The subtext is just one sentence: You deserve to die.

Kong Ming admired this monk very much:
"This Xuanzang, who achieved such a great achievement by himself, presumably became the sage of Chinese Buddhism."

"Definitely another figure who will be remembered for eternity."

Now that he has been watching the light curtain for a long time, he has also learned to look at things from a long-term perspective.

After all, this light curtain of Buddhist merits and demerits is clearly stated, and the Chinese sages also said:
"Stones from other mountains can attack jade."

This kind of behavior of going out of the Western Regions to take classics from other countries and blending them into his own ideas, in Kong Ming's view, has the same effect as the contention of a hundred schools of thought in the pre-Qin period.

I don't know what classics are there in Rome in the distance?Kong Ming was very interested at this moment.

……

Li Shimin's eyes are shining now, and he has only one thought:
"Where is Xuanzang?"

A person with such perseverance coincides with the plan in his mind to send monks to work!

He even secretly had a feeling: this Xuanzang must have overlapped with him in history!
This is easy to find, Fang Xuanling replied:

"The minister sent someone to inquire Dai Shangshu, presumably there should be a record."

During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the Buddha was wiped out by the two armies. Today, there are not many temples in the Tang Dynasty, and most of them are registered.

Now looking at the light curtain's exposition on Buddhism, Li Shimin can detect it no matter how stupid he is:

"It seems that Buddhism was quite important to the Tang Dynasty."

Li Shimin hesitated for a moment.

If Li Shimin had been asked about his views on Buddhism before today, he would have said without hesitation that Xiao Yan destroyed the country because of his belief in Buddhism.

Those who seek the way have not experienced blessings in the future, and those who practice their teachings have suffered from the past.

This is Li Shimin's view on Buddhism, and it is often a lion with a big mouth, either a huge temple or a tall pagoda.

What can he do with the money?
But now it seems that this new Confucianism seems to be quite important?
wrong!Li Shimin suddenly woke up and asked:

"This new Confucianism...couldn't be the reason why the courtiers of the Great Song Emperor are so brazen?"

This... Fang Du looked at each other, feeling hard to say.

Wei Zheng stepped forward:

"Whether you are upright or not depends on your heart, just like your Majesty saw in the troubled times of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, did the old misfortunes of the powerful be caused by theories?"

Of course not, Li Shimin still understands this.

Rather, one of the reasons for the decline of the Wei and Jin Dynasties is because the banner of Confucianism has fallen.

But when he thought of Confucianism, he thought of Lu Ru, who was quite difficult to deal with, and Li Shimin felt like blowing his beard and staring at him for a moment.

Changsun Wuji could scratch Li Shimin's itch the most, and said:
"Since there is New Confucianism in later generations, and after my Tang Dynasty, the aristocratic family has disappeared. Isn't the Shandong Confucian family born holy?"

Du Ruhui felt that it was impossible:
"The sixteen prefectures of Yanyun in the Song Dynasty couldn't take it back, and later Gou'an became the Southern Song Dynasty. How to guard the land of Shandong?"

"Under the vanguard, how can the aristocratic family survive? You can't vote for a foreign race, right? Wouldn't that be self-defeating Kong Sheng's brand?"

Everyone nodded at Du Ruhui's judgment, feeling that there was nothing to worry about.

Li Shimin thought hard for a long time, and finally said:

"Guozijian added Buddhism and Taoism, only studying Buddhism, not entering Buddhism, how about it?"

Fang Xuanling jumped out and said:
"Inappropriate, it is better to imitate the name of later generations, add philosophy, and study the three classics of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism in it, which can be tried."

Li Shimin nodded, that's fine, otherwise the Buddhist would take advantage of the situation and might use the Imperial College signboard to deceive him.

[We all know the story of Xuanzang, which was created into one of the famous works "Journey to the West" in the Ming Dynasty, but there are some slight differences in some parts:
Master Xuanzang’s request to leave the country was rejected, and because of the famine in the third year of Zhenguan, the government ordered that the hungry people be allowed to survive on their own.

Master Xuanzang listened to the persuasion and planned to go to Tianzhu to survive. As he crossed the border secretly, he naturally couldn't worship Erfeng like in Journey to the West. The one who swore to Xuanzang was Qu Wentai, the king of Gaochang.

This one is also considered an unlucky guy. When he was a child, he went to the Sui Dynasty to pay tribute with his father Qu Boya. After sending Master Xuanzang away, he took the initiative to pay tribute to the Tang Dynasty. Erfeng was very happy and was treated very well.

As a result, after returning to China, he was hijacked to participate in the Western Turkic War, attacked Yanqi, cut off the road to the Western Regions, and yelled at Datang.

Therefore, in the 14th year of Zhenguan, Gaochang Kingdom was destroyed by Erfeng, and Master Xuanzang's brother Qu Wentai died of fright.

When Master Xuanzang Zhenguan returned to China in 19 years, he passed by the Gaochang Dufu Mansion, and his mood should be more complicated. 】
