Chapter 32 Anping Alley

Chapter 32 Anping Alley

The next morning, just after five o'clock.

The stall selling breakfast food on Xizi Street had just been set up when Wen Shu came out of the yard pushing the cart.

Seeing that it was still dark, Wen Tai was a little worried and said, "Why don't dad go with you."

Wen Shu waved his hands again and again: "No, no, I'm familiar with that piece. Besides, you don't know my strength. If you really want to meet someone who doesn't have long eyes, you don't know who will suffer. You take advantage of these two days. The weather is good, quickly cover the roof tiles, don't look back and it will snow all over the house."

Seeing that she was so determined, and that she was really anxious about building tiles for the shop, Wen Tai said: "Then be careful yourself, and don't be brave when things happen."

"Don't worry." Wen Shu calmly waved his hand and pushed the car away.

Wen Tai watched her back out of the alley, and then turned back to the house.

At this time, there are two wooden barrels on the left side of the car. One barrel is filled with sober and refreshing 'Erchen Soup', and the other barrel is filled with 'Grandma Tea' that invigorates the spleen. and then wrapped in two layers of thick cotton-padded jackets.

This can keep the heat longer.

On the right is still a large basket, also wrapped in a cotton jacket. There are nearly a hundred steamed buns inside, but the fillings are usually the two that sell the fastest and best, sauerkraut meat dregs and white womb meat dregs.

In order to clean up this cart, Wen Shu got up on the fourth watch, and it took nearly an hour to get it done.

Looking at the still dark sky at this time, she couldn't help but pray secretly in her heart, but she must sell it, otherwise she would not only pay for labor, but also lose money for raw materials.

Pushing the cart on the quiet street, the vendors on both sides originally wanted to greet her, but when they saw that what she was pushing on the cart seemed to be food, they swallowed the greeting again.

After half a stick of incense, the sky was slightly brighter than before, but it was still dark. When Wen Shu pushed the car to Liu'an Lane, the place was still immersed in silence, as if everyone hadn't woken up from sleep.

She cleared her throat and yelled: "I sell breakfast food, delicious Wenji steamed buns, hot Erchen soup, grandma's tea"

The sweet and clear voice fluttered in the wind for a while, and the houses on both sides gradually started to make noise, and after a while, candlelight was reflected.

After a while, I heard the "squeak" sound of the door opening from the left side, a thickly dressed woman came out with her neck shrunk, saw a little lady pushing a cart in a deep alley, she couldn't help saying hello : "Miss Wen, why did you come so early today!"

Wen Shu turned his head and pushed the cart over, and said with a smile, "I added two more soups today, if you don't come earlier, I'm afraid they won't be sold out."

The woman laughed: "I heard you yelling just now, it's grandma tea and Erchen soup?"

"Sister-in-law Wang has good ears, would you like a cup?"

The woman smelled the faint fragrance in the air, nodded and said: "That's fine, but I don't know how much the young lady sells for?"

Wen Shu smiled heartily: "Sister-in-law, don't worry, we are all regular customers, and I can still sell my sister-in-law expensive. The two Chentangs are usually sold for five yuan a cup, so I will sell my sister-in-law for four yuan, and grandma's tea is sold for eight yuan for ordinary people." , I sell my sister-in-law Qiwen."

The woman thought about it for a while, and the price was indeed cheaper than others, she nodded and said: "Okay, let's have a cup of hot Erchen soup, the head of my family happened to have some wine last night, and now I am suffering from a headache. Your soup came just in time."

After finishing speaking, the woman turned around and went back to the house to get the bowls. After a while, a large porcelain bowl came out.

Wen Shu took it, lifted the wooden cover on the top of the 'Erchen Soup' bucket, and scooped up a spoonful of soup with the iron spoon he brought.

The woman nodded secretly while watching, and said in her heart: This little lady Wen is kind in her business.

"Okay, my sister-in-law is ready." Wen Shu greeted, and handed the prepared Erchen Tang to the woman, and then put the lid on the opened wooden barrel again.

The woman took a sip with the bowl first, and felt that the taste was pure. As soon as she saw the ingredients, she was satisfied. She couldn't help but feel even happier, and boasted: "Young lady has a conscience in doing things. This soup has enough ingredients and tastes good. I wonder everyone I love to buy food with you."

Hearing others praise her like this, Wen Shu was very happy in her heart, but she still had to say a few words of humility on the face: "This is what it should be. You should be kind and honest in doing business, otherwise you will not live up to the trust of your customers."

"That's well said! I love to hear my little lady's words." The woman praised her and said, "Then bring me four steamed buns, two sauerkraut, and two white pine."

"Okay." Wen Shu deftly picked up the buns and handed them to the woman.

The woman handed her eight Wen coins, joked a few more words, then closed the courtyard door and went back to the house. Then one after another, people on the left and right sides called her to buy food.

When the sky was completely clear, there was still more than half of the food in Wenshu's car, and at this time, the number of vendors selling breakfast food in the alley gradually increased.

Wen Shu listened carefully for a while, and found that someone had started selling steamed buns stuffed with cabbage and meat dregs, and the price was the same, one penny each.

She frowned. Although she had expected that someone would follow suit, she didn't expect it to come so soon. She thought that the cost was high and the profit was low, and not many people would pay attention to it. Who would have thought that someone would not let it go.

Seeing that the soup in the bucket was cooling down gradually, and there was not much business in Liu'an Lane, she thought for a moment, then decisively pushed the car out of here, and went to Anping Lane two streets away.

There is a large-scale private school on Wencheng Street adjacent to Anping Lane. The business in front of the private school is unimaginable for Wenshu. Such a good position must have been taken by someone long ago. Who will get her.

What she wants now is to go directly to Anping Lane to intercept some business while the time is still early. Because there is a private school next to it, most of the rented houses in Anping Lane take their students to study.

At this time, it was time to go to the private school for morning school. As soon as Wen Shu entered the alley, he saw young men in student blouses walking out of the alley in twos and threes with bookcases in their arms.

She hurriedly pushed the cart forward and asked: "You guys have eaten breakfast, do you want some steamed buns?"

Some students shook their heads politely at her, and some students didn't have breakfast and were waiting to go to the gate of the private school to buy food. Hearing this, they asked, "What is this lady selling?"

Wen Shu hurriedly replied: "There are Erchen soup and grandma's tea, as well as steamed buns stuffed with sauerkraut and meat dregs."

"Meat residue? You put meat residue in your steamed bun stuffing?" Two students showed interest.

Wen Shu nodded again and again: "Yes, not only that, I also mixed meat oil in the stuffing, which is delicious, and it costs a penny each. Would you like to have a few of the two young gentlemen?"

When they heard that it was only the price of ordinary steamed buns with plain stuffing, the two teenagers looked at each other, nodded and said, "Sure, let's have two, one with the same filling."

"Okay." Wen Shu responded, and picked up steamed buns for them neatly.

The boy paid the money and left, and Wen Shu pushed the car and continued on.

After a while, an eleven or twelve-year-old boy holding a bookcase walked out on the right hand side. Seeing this, Wen Shu hurriedly stepped forward and asked, "Mr. Xiaolang, do you want to buy steamed buns?"

The young man froze for a moment, then glanced at the car behind her, and asked, "What kind of stuffing do you make these steamed buns, and how do you sell them?"

"There are white womb meat residue and sauerkraut meat residue, one penny each."

The boy hesitated for a moment, took out two coins and said, "Then give me two, one for each type of stuffing."

"Okay, Mr. Xiaolang, wait a moment." Wen Shu took the money, turned around happily to pick up the steamed buns for him, and asked after wrapping the buns, "I still have Erchen Tang and Grandma Tea here, Mr. Xiaolang, do you want to come?" Last one?"

The boy glanced at her, shook his head and said, "No need." After saying that, he took the steamed bun and left with the box in his arms.

It's just that, instead of going to the alley, I went back to the room I just came out of. The courtyard door was pushed open, and a woman's cough could be heard faintly inside.

 About Erchen Tang.

It was the habit of city people in the Song Dynasty to get up early and drink a cup of "fried soup and tea medicine", and "Er Chen Tang" was the most popular kind of fried tea in the Song Dynasty.

The ingredients and preparation methods of "Er Chen Tang" are very particular.

Wash with Pinellia Decoction seven times, five liang each for orange and red, three liang for white Poria cocos, and roast one and a half for licorice. When frying tea, take four qian per serving, one cup of water, seven slices of ginger, one ebony plum, decoct six servings at the same time, remove the water, and serve hot, regardless of time.

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, "Erchen Decoction" can definitely resolve the injury of alcohol.Even if you don't drink alcohol, drinking a cup of Erchen soup every morning will refresh your mind and keep you healthy.

Therefore, Ouyang Xiu also specially wrote a poem to praise "Erchen Decoction": "The theory of merit can cure all kinds of diseases, light body and long-term consumption is better than flax."
