Chapter 59 Virus Attack
The blond middle-aged man next to Zooey looked at John, who was the only one who had contact with the corpse.

"Hi! I'm Dr. Morgan from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Are you sure you didn't inadvertently come into contact with saliva or other secretions from the deceased's mouth?"

John's face turned pale with fright, and the faces of the others also became ugly.

"No, I'm sure, what's wrong? You scared me."

"I reminded him to wear rubber gloves when examining the body," Neila Harper added on the sidelines.

"Wait a minute." Dr. Morgan ignored John, turned around and gestured to a bald African-American doctor in a protective suit, N95 mask and protective mask.

The doctor carried a testing box and went straight into the toilet to start examining the body.

"Hey, this is a crime scene!" Neila Harper yelled behind him, but she didn't make a move to stop him. Every policeman who can deal with all kinds of trivial matters on the street is good at observing people's words .

In the current situation, everyone knows that something big is going to happen.

Jack wasn't too nervous. Although he didn't remember whether there was such a plot in the original drama, but he had healing skills on one side, and he couldn't say anything else. Whether it was infectious diseases or chemical weapons, he couldn't be killed unless it was a closed space.

The second thing is that Dr. Morgan is dressed in formal attire, not even wearing a mask. It is estimated that it is probably not something like the X crown that relies on airborne transmission. At least for the time being, there is no need to worry about the copy of Los Santos being converted into a copy of Raccoon City.

"Well, for now, the crime is secondary."

Zoe clutched her forehead, her complexion was extremely bad. This kind of major public safety issue that required the dispatch of DHS and CDC was in her own jurisdiction, and it would be a headache for anyone else.

"There is no sign of infection!" The bald black doctor in the toilet shouted loudly to the crowd outside.

"The victim was a member of a domestic terrorist organization. DHS has been tracking them down. There is evidence that this organization is planning a lethal biochemical terrorist attack against Los Angeles."

Zoe explained to everyone in a low voice, and after she finished speaking, the doctors from the CDC began to step forward and guide everyone present to the plastic tents that had been set up for decontamination.

A little later, the briefing meeting room of the Wilshire branch was once again packed with patrol officers who had canceled their vacations. Superintendent Anderson and Superintendent Wade Gray, who had just finished meeting with DHS, CDC and FBI, were in a hurry Walking into the conference room, came the female doctor Morgan that Jack saw at the station.

Zoe did not speak this time, but Superintendent Gray presided over the meeting: "Everyone, the information we have obtained so far is as follows."

"At ten o'clock last night, this person." He pointed to the large screen hanging on the right side of the conference room, on which a photo of the deceased appeared.

"Corey Vallance, with an accomplice, boarded a long-distance bus from Phoenix to Los Angeles. We have not yet learned the exact identity of this accomplice."

"However, it can be confirmed that the two men were identified by DHS as members of a radical nationalist organization that was extremely dissatisfied with the multicultural environment in Los Angeles and threatened to attack."

"They arrived in the city at 5am this morning and it is presumed that Valence's associates strangled him to death in the station bathroom shortly after their arrival."

Tim questioned from the back row: "The motive for the murder was that Vallance got cold feet?"

Zoe nodded aside, "It is speculated that it is, and the possibility is very high."

Then Superintendent Gray continued: "After all, their mission is to release a deadly virus."

The patrolmen in the meeting room were in an uproar. Although the experience of John and the others had been spread before, but it was confirmed by the boss that everyone became uneasy. Stories that appear in movies seem more likely to scare people.

The two leaders of the Wilshire branch on the stage looked at Dr. Morgan from the CDC in unison, indicating that it was time for professionals to do the job.

"There is currently no evidence that the biochemical infectious agents carried by these two individuals have been released."

She paused: "But I'm sure that in the near future, there will be a long-planned biochemical attack in LA."

Jack asked the question that everyone was most concerned about: "Then we need to know what type of virus it is."

Dr. Morgan's complexion changed, and he glanced at Zoe and Superintendent Gray.

Zoe nodded: "The frontline patrol officers must know what they are facing."

Dr. Morgan said with some reluctance: "It's a weaponized hemorrhagic fever virus variety. Mainly speaking, it can cause the infected person to bleed to death."

"The virus spreads through contact with bodily fluids, and the incubation period is extremely short." As she spoke, she showed several photos of patients bleeding from the seven orifices on the big screen, which was creepy.

"After the outbreak of the virus, if it is not treated in time, the mortality rate is as high as 90%."

As an old government official in his previous life, Jack knew something about things like Ebola. He had a friend who was a doctor who aided Africa, and he had watched some related documentaries.

When he heard the word weaponization and the 90% fatality rate, he felt a little more at ease. At least for the time being, he didn't have to worry about Los Angeles becoming a dead city.

Weaponization means that there is usually a corresponding vaccine. The 90% fatality rate sounds scary, but the extremely high fatality rate means that secondary transmission is not easy, and it will not cause a global infectious disease on the scale of the previous life.

Of course, Jack didn't even bother to think about why a terrorist organization could have a weaponized virus. Only Fort Detrick could answer this kind of question.

John, who was the only one who came into contact with the corpse, seemed a little terrified, and quickly asked, "What if we get effective treatment?"

Dr. Morgan replied: "The mortality rate has dropped to 60%, but the bad news is"

John's eyes widened, as if he couldn't believe it: "Isn't this bad news?"

Dr. Morgan nodded and continued to talk eloquently: "The bad news is that the virus vaccine is still in the experimental stage. There are only a few hundred doses, and they are flying here from Maryland on a special plane. It is not enough to deal with this crisis."

Jack in the audience curled his lips secretly. The vaccine is only 40% effective. It’s useless. No wonder the first-line patrol officers are pushed to the front. Shouldn’t the DHS or the FBI directly intervene in this kind of thing, or simply let the Army Come here and wipe your ass off yourself. After all, Fort Detrick in Maryland belongs directly to the Army.

Superintendent Gray on the stage was outspoken, obviously dissatisfied with the above's approach.

"The FBI will set up a temporary command center in this city. We are ordered to cooperate with them. The first thing to do is to find out the identity of the accomplice of the deceased Corey Vallance who is also the perpetrator."

"You need to interrogate all the passengers who took the same bus with them one by one."
