Chapter 291 The Scarlet Witch in the Snowstorm

Chapter 291 The Scarlet Witch in the Snowstorm

Jane Banner felt like she was going crazy. Although she had been driving hard for 2 hours in the snowstorm, everything seemed to be in a dream.

She is a native of Fort Lauderdale, a Florida native who lives on the warm seaside of the east coast, stepping on the beach and basking in the sun since she was a child, seeing a live snowstorm for the first time in her life.

She has never been to such a cold ghost place, let alone such a heavy snow, why is there snow that is so big that it completely covers the vision ahead, and why is she suddenly sent here.

Jane Banner is just a rookie agent who has just joined the FBI for a few months. During the "Volunteer Night" at the FBI Academy, when she read "Las Vegas" aloud on the stage, the students cheered The sound seemed to be still in front of my eyes.

It all happened so quickly, at first, she just came to the Riverton courthouse in Fremont, Wyoming to file a statement, and then got a phone call.

The phone call came from his boss. He said that a murder case was suspected to have occurred in an Indian reservation called Wind River Valley, and he asked himself to confirm it, because she is now the FBI closest to the crime scene.

Jane Banner didn't have time to think about it. She didn't even have time to go back to Cheyenne (the capital of Wyoming) to apply for a Saab class. She hurriedly rented an SUV from a car rental company and rushed to her destination.

Feeling the warm air from the air conditioner in the car getting lower and lower, the despair in the girl's heart began to spread little by little, and she began to think whether it was a wrong choice for her to join the FBI.

She looked back on her career in the FBI for just a few months, and tried to recall whether she had inadvertently offended that strange boss whose hairline was gradually rising and who liked to collect Captain America cards in private.

She is extroverted and has a good figure and appearance. Whether she is in the FBI academy or in the Las Vegas office, she claims to be good at dealing with interpersonal communication.

Occasionally, a few guys who feel good about themselves want to provoke her, but she handles them with ease. After all, this is not the last century, when girls were greeted with smiles when they were slapped on the ass in the office.

Seeing that the blizzard outside was getting bigger and bigger, it was completely impossible to see the road ahead.

Jane Banner sighed and lay on the steering wheel feeling sorry for herself, so is it all just a coincidence? Is it really just my bad luck, just happened to meet?

Everything was like a dream. One second I was still in the hot desert of Las Vegas, and the next second I was thrown into this freezing hell of more than 20 degrees below zero.

"Am I going to die?" An indescribable sense of oppression welled up in my heart. Obviously the car engine was still running and the air conditioner was still running, but Jane Banner felt an uncontrollable despair.

"Tuk tuk tuk." There was a knocking sound outside the car window. Jane Banner reflexively put her hand on the window button, but hesitated for a few seconds before finally making up her mind and lowering the car window by a gap.

Although it was only a small crack, the cold wind still roared in, instantly dropping the temperature inside the car, which was already close to zero, to below zero.

"Your car broke down? Do you need help?" A familiar voice came from outside the car window, and Jane Banner couldn't believe her ears.

"Jack, is that you?" She pressed the button with unbelievable force and lowered most of the window glass. Sure enough, a familiar handsome face appeared in front of her eyes.

"Jane?" Jack didn't expect to meet an acquaintance here. This girl who looks exactly like the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel movie left a deep impression on him in the academy.

"Aren't you in BAU?" The wind was too loud, and Jane Banner tried to raise her volume.

Jack looked at the girl who was only wearing a thin down jacket and was shivering from the cold. He didn't answer her question, but asked the same loudly.

"Is your car still moving?"

Jane Banner seemed to realize that now was not the time to reminisce about the old days, and she nodded quickly, "Yes, but the wind and snow are too heavy. The navigation said that the destination is just ahead and turn left, but I can't see anything."

Jack nodded, "There are local people in my car leading the way, just follow us."

After finishing speaking, he raised his hand and motioned for her to close the window quickly.

A Ford F150 drove up to Jane Banner's SUV with double dodges. She quickly put down the handbrake and followed carefully.

After walking hard for 20 minutes, two cars stopped in front of a wooden house on a farm, and three bloated figures were standing at the door of the wooden house, waiting there.

Seeing the two cars stop, one of them, a middle-aged man wearing a cowboy hat and a uniform with the logo of the Ministry of Fish and Game embroidered on his chest, greeted him proactively.

An Indian girl jumped from the co-pilot of the Raptor F150, threw herself into the arms of the middle-aged man, and burst into tears.

Jane Banner turned off the car, looked at the heavy snow outside, hesitated for a moment, then mustered up the courage, wrapped up the thin clothes on her body, got out of the car and walked quickly towards the wooden house.

The cold wind carried huge snowflakes oncoming, and the biting chill made her breath short involuntarily. It seemed that if she didn't do this, as long as she dared to take a deep breath, the cold air would completely freeze her lungs.

"I'm Jane Banner, from the FBI."

Jane Banner walked to the wooden house and shook hands with a fat old man in a thick police uniform.

"You came alone?" The fat old man looked away from the SUV she got off and asked expressionlessly.

"Uh, it should be, just me."

Jane Banner was also uncertain. She was indeed here alone, but she didn't know what happened to the Jack who was supposed to belong to the FBI's Behavior Analysis Department that she met on the way.

"I'm Ben Shaw, the sheriff of the local tribal police station." The fat old man introduced himself, watching a beautiful female FBI agent shivering in the snow in front of him.

"That's Corey Lambert, a registered hunter, from the Department of Fish and Game. He found the corpse." Sergeant Ben Shoy raised his chin, pointing to the middle-aged man who was bowing his head to comfort the Indian girl.

"This is his father-in-law, Dan, who owns the farm."

Sergeant Ben Shaw looked at an old man with silvery white hair, two Indian-style pigtails hanging down his chest, and a wrinkled face, and continued to introduce.

Jane Banner kicked two steps on the spot, and within 5 minutes after leaving the car, she gradually couldn't feel her toes. At this temperature, the damned canvas shoes on her feet were no different from not wearing them. .

"I'm sorry we're meeting in this situation, uh, so, is it convenient to see the body now? No offense, but I'm freezing to death right now, so I hope the sooner the better."

Jack, who was completely wrapped up, appeared behind her at some point, "Jane, although I appreciate your professionalism, are you really not going to wear more clothes?"
