Falling Heart

Chapter 22 Trapped in the School Building

Chapter 22 Trapped in the School Building

The owner of the lottery station handed the printed lottery tickets to Xie Mingchao, "The results will be announced at nine o'clock tonight, remember to come back and pay attention."

Shen Qing took a careful look from a distance, and after confirming that the number was the same as what she wrote, she reluctantly let go.

"You must keep it safe." She kept her eyes on the lottery ticket. "It's about my meal."

Xie Mingchao couldn't help but sneered, "Miss Shen will miss this meal too?"

Shen Qing nodded affirmatively, "Yes, food is far more important than money."

He put the lottery ticket in his pocket casually, "Okay, come back after the evening self-study."

"How could you put it like that?" She paid more attention to this lottery ticket than Xie Mingchao, and fumbled for his pocket.

Xie Mingchao's face became hot from her careless touch, and he quickly held her hand.

"what are you doing?"

"Sorry," Shen Qing pulled out her hand, and patted the back of her hand punitively, for fear that he would say that female hooligan again, and reassured, "I didn't mean to offend you."

Xie Mingchao was provoked by her action, "Since you are worried, I will keep it for you."

She stared blankly at his face, and then said after a while: "Sure enough, your face is killer when you smile."

Shen Qing took the lottery ticket, "It must be kept safe, but the condition is that there will be an extra meal."

"Okay, you have the final say," he pulled down the brim of his hat, "go back."

*
The first evening self-study is over, and the math class representatives start collecting homework one by one.

When it was Shen Qing's turn, she panicked and filled the seats looking for exercise books.

"At this."

Xie Mingchao saw the green exercise book sandwiched between the English and math books at a glance, and took it out directly.

"Oh, here you are."

Shen Qing hastily handed in the workbook.

Fortunately, she remembered to finish her homework on the weekend before drawing. Although she only wrote the multiple-choice part, all the major questions only had a simple solution.

After the last evening self-study, Shen Qing took a deep breath, reached out to touch the lottery ticket in her pocket, but found nothing.

"It's over."

Xie Mingchao stopped packing his things, and looked sideways at her, "Can't find the lottery ticket?"

She nodded guiltily, then lowered her voice, "I'm sorry..."

He put the last book in his schoolbag, stood up, and said in a flat tone, "Think carefully about when was the last time you saw it."

Shen Qing frowned and recalled, until the classroom was almost empty, she still didn't remember it.

Seeing that her aggrieved face was about to wrinkle into a ball, Xie Mingchao sighed softly, "Go and see the lottery results first, maybe you will remember it on the way."

"……it is good."

Along the way, Shen Qing's brain was running fast, and she almost used up all her brainpower in her entire life.

When I saw a series of numbers scrolling on the electronic screen at the entrance of the lottery station, I exclaimed: "I won... I won!"

Xie Mingchao naturally saw it clearly, and hummed calmly.

He stood quietly, not rushing her to remember.

"Thank you Mingchao!"

Shen Qing suddenly called him.

Xie Mingchao looked up lazily, "Yes."

Her excited eyes sparkled, "I remembered, it's in the math exercise book!"

He didn't panic at all, "Okay, I'll get it tomorrow morning."

"Wait, let's go back and get it now!" Shen Qing hastily held him back, "The door closes at ten o'clock, so there's still time."

Xie Mingchao looked down at the hand that subconsciously grabbed his wrist, his expression moved slightly.

She hurriedly urged: "Don't be dazed, go quickly."

It was already 09:30 when they rushed back to the school gate. Except for the senior high school students who were going out, only the two of them went in against the crowd.

The teaching building of the second year of high school was pitch-black, only the sound of two people kicking up the stairs could be heard in the corridor.

Xie Mingchao clearly had longer legs than Shen Qing, and she could even shake him by a large chunk when she walked quickly.

The teacher's office is usually not locked, so Shen Qing easily opened the door and went in.

After she came in, she remembered that she didn't know where Wang Linmei's desk was, and turned back to ask Xie Mingchao.

He had just arrived at the door when a shadow jumped out of the darkness and was about to slam into his arms.

Xie Mingchao pinned her down quickly, his brows slightly frowned, "What's wrong?"

"Where is the math teacher's desk?" Before Shen Qing found the lottery ticket, her anxious mood never calmed down. She caught a glimpse of the lights flashing at the end of the corridor and dragged him into the office.

It was the security uncle who was routinely locking the door for inspection with a flashlight.

"Have you brought your cell phone?"

Shen Qing closed the office door by the way, touched her pocket and found that she was in a hurry to go out today without a mobile phone, so she could only ask Xie Mingchao for help.

"No, but I have lights."

He turned on the light of the watch to shine in, "Come with me, now you can find your exercise book and leave the teaching building before the uncle locks the door."

She followed behind him carefully, "Well, can you pull your clothes off?"

Xie Mingchao stopped, "Are you afraid of the dark?"

Shen Qing's voice was weak: "No, I'm a bit night-blind and can't see clearly."

"Don't move here. There are a lot of things in the office and they are easy to bump into. I'll go and look for them."

She didn't dare to move, and waited obediently.

Xie Mingchao quickly found Shen Qing's exercise book, flipped through a few pages, and found the lottery ticket.

"We can go back."

Shen Qing breathed a sigh of relief, "That's great, I almost lost a hundred thousand."

"Tomorrow, the teacher will return it to you if he checks the homework." Xie Mingchao opened the door, but just in time to see the security guard locked the iron door at the stairway, "Shen Qing, we will not be able to get out."

"what?"

She lay down on the corridor and yelled loudly at the back of the security guard: "Master, there are still people inside!"

The old security guard, who was over sixty years old, walked out humming a song with headphones on, but he didn't hear the voice behind him at all.

Shen Qing mourned, "If I knew it earlier, I wouldn't hide from the uncle, let him wait for us to go out together."

Xie Mingchao glanced at the time, it was exactly ten o'clock. "If you are found out by the uncle, there is only one consequence. You will be convicted of theft and taken to the security office, and then you will be reviewed at the meeting."

"Then we can't spend the night here?" She has to go back to color the line draft.

"There is a landline on Lao Ban's desk. If you remember the number of an acquaintance, maybe someone can come to rescue you."

Shen Qing's eyes lit up with hope, "I remember my aunt's number!"

The security guard left, just when she thought she could turn on the light in a fair manner, but no matter how many times she flipped the switch, it was of no avail.

She tried it a few more times in disbelief, "Why isn't it on?"

"The power will be cut off after closing the door." Xie Mingchao turned on the light of the watch again, "You are behind me."

Shen Qing cautiously supported the edge of the table and followed behind him.

The lights in front flickered a few times before going out, and the office was completely dark.

Xie Mingchao's clear voice was exceptionally clear in the darkness: "The battery is out."
