Chapter 5 Samwell Tarly
The Tully family wears the walking hunter as their coat of arms, and their family style is martial. They have ruled the Horn Hill region with a population of tens of thousands for generations, and are one of the most powerful lords in the Reach.

The contemporary Earl of Tarly, Randyll Tarly, is the veritable number one general of the Reach, and he is counted among the big men in the Seven Kingdoms.

Even so, Joffrey remains faithful to his persona.

(Prince Joffrey, defiant and ignorant, doesn't care who the others are, of course.)
"No. 11 of the first round of the jousting, Sir Les Fossoway, against Sandor Clegane!"

Joffrey glanced at the arena, then resumed his rounds with Lando Tarly.

"How are you thinking, Lord Tully."

Several joustings had passed since Prince Joffrey explained his purpose, but Randyll Tarly was still a little dazed.

Without any warning, Prince Joffrey rushed over suddenly, saying that he would let his eldest son come to King's Landing as an apprentice to Grand Master Pycelle.

He was naturally surprised.

Before the other courtiers and nobles at the same table left, Randall was sure he saw pity in their eyes.

It made him feel humiliated and angry.

But after thinking about it for a while and understanding what this meant, he felt an uncontrollable joy in his heart.

Lord Randyll had to admit that the last emotion predominated.

He knew he shouldn't think so.

The Tarlys are indeed warriors, warriors born for war.

But it is also the lord of the princes.

The bloodiness of soldiers is of course important, but the tacit understanding and rules between lords should not be underestimated.

Primogeniture is an ancient tradition and legal system of thousands of years, which all families should maintain.

This is why Earl Randyll hated the weakness of his eldest son, Samwell Tarly, but did not send him to the Academy City or the church for so long.

Deprivation of the eldest son's right to inherit, even if it is an internal decision within the family, will inevitably arouse controversy and affect the family's prestige and honor.

If outsiders interfered, it would be an intolerable shame.

But what if this outsider is the royal family?

Lord Randle seemed to have opened a new door.

The cheers and boos were much louder at the same time, and Sandor "The Hound" Clegane won.

Lord Randyll was still lost in his own thoughts.

Originally, he had made up his mind that when he returned to Horn Hill this time, he would force Sam to join the Night Watchman of the Great Wall and give up his inheritance rights.

After all, the Night Watch Corps is a place where soldiers stay, and it is far away in the northernmost part of the northern border, far away from home than the Academy City, and it will prevent Sam from continuing to ruin the family's reputation in the Reach.

Although the family's reputation will still suffer some losses, it will also affect the unity within the family.

He thought there was nothing he could do.

But now, there is an opportunity to have the best of both worlds.

Earl Randall raised his head and asked again, "Your Highness, are you sure you are serious?"

Joffrey was helpless, he had already confirmed it many times, and he had to say it a few more times.

But he also understood that it wasn't that Randyll Tarly was forgetful, but that he was struggling.Entanglement itself represents a certain attitude.

Joffrey wasn't worried about being rejected.

What happened to Sam in the plot is enough to prove that Earl Tully's weakness towards his eldest son has become unbearable.

The options he presents now are good for all.

"Master Randyll, I am very serious."

He slightly broke through the limitations of his own personality.

"Isn't this great? The Tully family can have a more suitable heir, your eldest son who loves knowledge can also concentrate on his studies, and the national teacher Pai Sear can have more apprentices. Everyone is happy."

Lando Tully was silent. Why couldn't you be braver, Sam.do not blame me.

Joffrey waited for a while, but still nothing happened.

Gradually, he had a guess.

"Lord Landao, why hesitate? What's wrong with being a disciple of the national teacher? This is for his sake!"

Lord Tarly remained silent. It must be done now.

Joffrey was somewhat certain.

He stood up and delivered an ultimatum.

"Lord Tarly, in the name of my heir to the Iron Throne, Crown Prince Joffrey Baratheon, I command you to obey. Will you defy me?"

People around looked over one after another.

Randyll Tarlyton stood up abruptly, his eyes wide open, and he looked like he was holding back his anger.

The two stared at each other incredulously.

Just when Joffrey couldn't help doubting his own judgment, Lord Tarly finally spoke.

"I will obey the order of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and hand over the eldest son, Samwell Tarly, to the teaching of Grand Maester Pycelle. However,"

Randyll Tarly was pretty insistent.

"I must emphasize that this is not my intention, nor is it the decision of the Tully family!"

As soon as the words fell, Earl Tully turned and strode away.

The atmosphere at the scene cooled down instantly.

Looking at the low-key and quiet people, Joffrey could guess what they were thinking at this moment.

Lando Tarly, he really is an old fox!

Joffrey knew he had guessed right.

That's what this guy means: the Tully family is stable and united, their image is intact, there are successors, and all bad things are done by Joffrey (the royal family).

And with King Robert's temperament, after learning about this incident, he must feel indebted to the Tarly family.

Simply beneficial and harmless.

However, it was these extra benefits that made Earl Tarly choose King's Landing instead of the Great Wall for Samwell.

As for Joffrey, he just lost his bad reputation and was reprimanded by the king at most.

A negligible price, in exchange for the connection with the Tully family, and a knowledgeable and powerful talent who knows everything.

Samwell Tarly.

In the plot, he has always been Jon Snow's gold medal support, one of the main forces against the White Walkers, and an absolutely positive character.

Good character, flexible mind, smart and knowledgeable, without ambition.

Although the sense of existence is not as good as that of the main protagonists, as the author's own son, he must not be underestimated, at least he has the potential to be a minister on his own.

With a dozen more such talents, the political structure Joffrey envisioned would be barely supported.

And the more the better.

Joffrey wanted to collect more than a dozen characters.

After all, one of the main advantages of knowing the plot is a deep understanding of the characters.

Who can see a person clearly in reality?

The time cost, risk cost, and mutual trust cost are simply immeasurable.

As a time traveler, of course, we should take advantage of this opportunity to recruit talents, use those who can be used, and plant a ticking time bomb for the enemy.

With Tyrion, the Hound, and Sam, the small team has initially taken shape, and the start-up capital is short.

Joffrey looked toward a modest tent outside the tournament ring.

It's all on you.

hound.
