Chapter 8 Hard Seats
Susie looked out the window and asked, "What does your mother look like?"

Tian Xiaohui buried her head on her knees, "My mother—my mother is just a middle-aged woman with no special features."

Not far away, Susie saw a middle-aged woman with short hair stretching her neck to look anxiously into the carriage. There was a faint shadow of Tian Xiaohui on her face, and she reckoned it was her mother.

Seeing the middle-aged woman walking back, Susie just wanted to ask Tian Xiaohui to look up, when she suddenly heard a heart-piercing cry: "Susie—"

Susie's pupils shrank suddenly, and she saw Lian Qing running and looking around in the distance, shouting at the same time.

Su Haiqing is still following behind him!
Su Haiqing ran around like a headless chicken.

When Su Haiqing looked over, Susie's heart almost stopped beating. She quickly threw herself on the small table and buried her head in her arms.

Tian Xiaohui, who was pricking her head next to her, also heard Lian Qing's call, and giggled, "Your family members are here too, hehehe, does it look like the two of us eloped together?"

Susie lay on the table and couldn't help laughing.

This was the first smile she showed when she came to this world.

The boy on the opposite side saw the girl's black and shiny ponytail spread on the table, which seemed to be exuding a faint fragrance.

He turned his head to look out the window, and saw a handsome young man running past him anxiously calling "Susie".

Tian Xiaohui was still scratching her head: "Why isn't this car still driving!"

"Yuan Gang, help me see if my mother is gone."

Yuan Gang scratched his head: "Well, I don't know your mother either."

Just when Susie and Tian Xiaohui were restless, the train let out a long sound: "Woo--" Then the rails clanged and the train began to move forward slowly.

Susie took a long breath and sat up straight. She was not afraid of the train moving.

Tian Xiaohui quickly raised her head, leaned against Su Qian and looked out the window.

She suddenly waved her hand out the window, "Mom, I'm here!"

Tian Xiaohui's mother looked over at the sound, and finally met Tian Xiaohui's eyes. She sprinted at a speed of [-] meters, followed by the car window and scolded, "You dead child, you have eaten the heart of a bear, and the courage of a leopard. You actually hid such a big thing from me and your dad, you, you heartless."

She cried after cursing, then took out a wad of money from her pocket, and stretched it towards the car window.

The window was a bit high, Tian Xiaohui leaned down, stretched her arms, and took the stack of money.

The speed of the train was getting faster and faster, and Tian Xiaohui's mother couldn't keep up after running for a while. She waved her hand vigorously, "Remember to write to home when you arrive, and also, ask for leave early to come back to visit relatives during the Chinese New Year!"

"Hold back quickly, it's so dangerous!"

Tian Xiaohui promised loudly, "I will write a letter, you and dad must be well at home." She sat back in her seat, held the stack of money, and suddenly cried.

No one paid attention to the crying in the noisy carriage, only a few people nearby looked at Tian Xiaohui.

Susie took out a small handkerchief from her trouser pocket and handed it to Tian Xiaohui.

Tian Xiaohui turned around and lay in Susie's arms, "Whoa, I can't bear my mother, I can't bear my father."

Susie patted her on the back and said amusedly, "It's too late for you to regret it now."

Tian Xiaohui cried for a while, wiped off her snot and tears, raised her head, folded the small handkerchief and put it in her trouser pocket, saying in a muffled voice, "I'll wash the handkerchief and return it to you."

Susie smiled, "You don't need to return it, it just happens to be a new handkerchief, you can keep it."

Yuan Gang on the opposite side seemed to want to prevent Tian Xiaohui from being immersed in bad emotions, so he took the initiative to bring up the topic, "Do you know that we all have resettlement fees for educated youths who go to the countryside."

Tian Xiaohui was really attracted by this topic, "Really? How much?"

Yuan Gang shook his head, "That's hard to say. The national regulation is more than 100, but many places can't afford the money, so they just give some."

"The Guangxi province we went to is one of the poorest provinces in the country, so I don't think we can get much money."

Tian Xiaohui pouted, "How could this be?"

She snapped her fingers, "I have to buy a hot water bottle and a washbasin. I'm afraid my parents will find out that I didn't bring the mosquito net, so I have to buy it."

"Well, I don't know if the resettlement fee is enough to buy things."

Su Qian listened for a while, and asked Yuan Gang, "By the way, do you know when we will arrive in Gui Province?" She looked at it just now, and there was no time information on the ticket, not even the departure time. Not to mention the time of arrival.

Yuan Gang scratched his head, "I'm not sure about this either, let's ask the conductor later when he comes to check the ticket."

The young man beside Yuan Gang said slowly, "If it's not late, the arrival time should be around ten o'clock."

Susie thought for a while, "Ten o'clock tomorrow morning?"

The young man scoffed, "It's ten o'clock in the morning the day after tomorrow, and it takes 72 hours from Beijing to Guangxi Province."

Susie froze for a moment. She was used to the convenient transportation in modern times. She said that at ten o'clock tomorrow morning, she had considered the backwardness of this era.

She didn't know that the trains of this era were much slower than the green-skinned trains of the later generations, and the speed of the green-skinned trains of later generations was already the result of several times the speed of the railway was increased.

Susie then nodded to the boy, "Thank you."

The boy folded his arms, leaned against the window, and closed his eyes, obviously not paying attention to the thank you.

Tian Xiaohui was shocked by the side. This was her first time taking a train, and she was a girl, so she had no concept of distance at all.

"It takes so long? Three days!"

"Just sit all the way to Guangxi Province?"

Yuan Gang on the opposite side smiled, "That's not true, we have hard-seat tickets, so we don't have to sit hard all the way."

Tian Xiaohui frowned, "Sitting for three days, what a pain."

Susie stood up at this moment, "I'm going to the bathroom."

Tian Xiaohui let out an "uh" and blinked her eyes twice, "You mean to go to the bathroom?" She turned to let Susie.

It was only then that Susie realized that the word "toilet" was never used in this era. It was probably introduced from Hong Kong and Taiwan after the reform and opening up.

She secretly reminded herself to pay attention to the details in the future, so as not to be caught and reported by others, while walking towards one end of the carriage.

Not long after the train started, the toilet was not so tense, Susie only waited for a while, and a girl came out of it.

She went in to solve her physical problems first, and then took out the wad of money Xu Min stuffed for her in her trouser pocket and counted it.
