Chapter 25 Linkos' Friends

Chapter 25 Linkos' Friends
After crossing thousands of mountains and crossing thousands of waters, Linkos returned to the place where he started, worshiping the Fire Clan.

Although he had heard about it along the way, he was also mentally prepared.

But when he really saw the dilapidated scene of the tribe, his face turned pale all of a sudden, he felt that his eyes were darkened, and he almost fell down.

There were bones everywhere, dust and cobwebs all over the house.

He walked deep into the tribe, the desolation and dilapidation were like a net, covering everything he saw.

With a glimmer of hope, he said, "Hey! Is anyone there?"

"I am Linkos, Linkos looking for the Creator."

"I'm back!"

Linkos stopped where he was, and the wind brought his echo.

Time passed by, and his hands and feet gradually became cold.

Quiet, too quiet.

The once noisy tribe turned into a dead city.

He walked towards the center of the clan, where the altar of the clan was located.

The altar was covered with dust, apparently neglected for a long time.

On the edge of the altar, Linkos saw two bones, the big bone hugging the small one.

It should be a mother and son, Linkos guessed.

Along the steps he went up to the altar.

At the top, a dead fennel branch was burning.

It was taken by Prometheus, the creator of mankind, for mankind at the cost of being imprisoned, and Linkos will never forget it.

He picked up the fennel branch, took hold of its unburned base, and held it high above his head like a torch.

He looked down from the altar, and everything about the tribe was under his eyes.

"It's gone, it's gone." Linkos' voice was crying.

But then he laughed maniacally again.

"No, I'm still alive."

"I am immortal, I will live forever."

Linkos looked like a lunatic, he was half crying and half laughing on the altar, looking like a madman.

Suddenly, he stuffed the fennel branch in his mouth into his mouth and began to chew.

The flames burned his mouth to fester, and blood spurted out.

But Linkos didn't seem to feel any pain, he swallowed it all, whether it was the burned part or the unburned part.

He could feel that the flame was burning in his belly, never going out.

Linkos laughed maniacally, and the expression on his face became distorted due to the pain: "Okay, very good!"

He walked down the altar with his head held high, like a general preparing to fight on the battlefield.

In the open space beside the altar, Linkos dug a big pit, buried the corpses of the mother and child, and headed west.

……

Thessalia is a country close to the Fire Worship clan, and the king is a middle-aged man named Erythikon.

After the demise of the Fire Worship Clan, Thessalia received the most refugees.

This country once did not believe in gods.

But time has passed, and the beliefs in the world have long changed the pattern.

But what happened in the past, there is only one god in the world now, and that is Demeter, the goddess of abundance who can bring food in times of famine.

Everyone knows that only by believing in this goddess can they have enough food and... survive.

Thessalia is no exception. They built the temple of the goddess of abundance, and learned from Eleusis to pray on the 20th day of each month. They also planted trees around the temple for the servants of the goddess of abundance. The fairies who live in the trees come and play.

In the royal palace, King Erythic received a guest in secret.

The man was dressed in a black robe and covered his face with a mask.

He stepped forward to hug and greet affectionately.

"You're finally back, Linkos."

"My brother, how have you been all these years?"

Linkos was very indifferent, and he told Erythicon: "I would rather die than see the tribe after it was wiped out when I come back."

Erythik was stunned at the same place, and he sighed: "Have you gone back?"

"There is no way, this is a natural disaster."

"I tried my best, but there was not enough food, so I couldn't save too many people."

Linkos yelled, "My brother, look into my eyes."

"This is not a natural disaster, but a man-made disaster. The root cause is Demeter, the goddess of fertility that you now believe in."

He said to Erythicon word by word: "You clearly know that you have surrendered."

As if being stabbed in the foot by Linkos' words, Eryxik was a little annoyed: "I didn't give in, but I can't help it."

"I am a king, not an ordinary man!"

"I want to think about my people."

Linkos: "Is this why you surrender?"

"Are you afraid of death?"

"Abandon the Creator and believe in a false god like a coward?"

Erythic roared together: "Enough, Linkos."

"I'm not a coward, I'm a king!"

Lin Kesi's tone became disappointed: "When I went to look for the Creator, who swore to me and reassured me."

"It's you, Erythikon."

"Look at what you have done now, do you dare to go back to the tribe to see?"

"Let me tell you, I saw it. There are bones everywhere. They are all starving compatriots."

"I walked along the road, and there was no smoke, only deathly silence."

"If you can't do what you promised, and let your compatriots die miserably, you are not a coward, who is a coward."

Erythik shouted angrily, "Then what did you do?"

"You go to find the Creator, where is the Creator, tell me."

Linkos just looked at him and said slowly, "At least I did it."

"I use my life to climb that mountain every day, thinking about how to save our only true God."

"Triptolemus, the son of Kerius, came to me, and I know that behind him stands a god."

"But so what, I just want to kill him."

"Yes, I did fail."

"But I'm not like you, because fear of death is like a god begging for mercy, like a dog."

"I'm ashamed to have you as a brother."

Erythic went crazy, he couldn't control himself anymore: "I don't need you as a brother."

"Guard, guard, where are you, get out quickly."

"Fork this madman out for me, fork out."

The guards filed in, and they grabbed Linkos' hands and feet, faithfully carrying out the king's will.

Linkos ignored them, and he spat on Erythicon's face: "Coward."

……

Wiping off the saliva that represented humiliation on his face, Erythicon frantically beat the precious furnishings in the house.

"Links, I'm not a coward."

After a long time, he calmed down and had an ax in his hand.

"I'm not afraid of death, Linkos, let me prove it to you now."

Together, Erythic ran to the temple of Demeter, the goddess of fertility, surrounded by green trees.

He slashed vigorously, sending sawdust flying.

His subjects came to persuade him, but Erythicon was mad, and he turned his head and killed the servant who hindered him.

He said: "This is what happens when you worship God." After speaking, he continued to cut down trees.

The sound of axes chopping trees echoed in the temple.

Boom, boom, boom.
