Chapter 45 45. Filch

"They all look down on Squibs!"

Filch's voice was hoarse, with an unbridled outburst.

"They think people like me don't deserve to be in the wizarding world at all, yeah! How can someone who can't even use a spell or hold a wand deserve to be called a wizard! Squib! Squib! A dumb firecracker is a waste !Trash! Everyone thinks so! Everyone!"

Neville seemed to feel that Filch was very pitiful at this moment, so he said something comforting.

"But the Hogwarts professors don't think so"

"It's just because of Dumbledore's face!" He roared, "I know they all despise me! Lily Potter never took the initiative to talk to me! McGonagall has not spoken to me in the past twenty years. Give me a good face! Slughorn even wanted to humiliate me on the night when Hogwarts was first attacked, when I was locked in the office alone, and I was scared! He stayed up late Just let me out!"

Jon listened to his "accusation", and felt that Lily and McGonagall treated him so purely because of his attitude towards the students, and it had nothing to do with the Squib thing. As for Slughorn, he was not good at it. People have always been like that, but actively humiliating it certainly won't.

So Jon was more curious about his last sentence.

"You were locked up that night? Who did it? The man in the wagon?"

"Who knows that I can't use magic and can't cast the unlocking spell? If that person really thought I was in the way, he would just lock the door secretly! It must be Slughorn! He knows that I am a squib, and there is no way to open the lock shut me in the office to embarrass me!"

Filch screamed, as if he had accepted the incident and would not listen to any explanation from the others.

Jon could only comfort him.

"Don't be sad, Filch, we didn't look down on you for being a Squib, and we're not going to tell you about it, and we came to ask you just because we suspected that there was something wrong with you not using magic all the time."

"Is there a problem?" Filch puffed up his eyes. He is not a good person but it doesn't mean he is a fool. "Do you think I will do something that is sorry for Hogwarts? Am I crazy? Or are you crazy!"

Ron turned his head guiltily, and he didn't expect that Jon just said a few words, and Filch would expose the Squib incident to himself. Of course, the fact that Filch is an undercover agent now cannot be established.

"Now that we are sure that you are really a squib, there must be no such doubts. I am sorry to disturb you today."

Jon said in an apologetic voice that he had no prejudice against squibs, but he also felt that the administrator had a bad character.

"Is what you just said true?" Filch stared at Jon. He obviously realized that among the four people, this boy was their core. "Don't tell anyone else."

Jon shrugged: "This is your privacy, if you think it should, we will keep it a secret."

"Ah thank you. Thank you." He thanked dryly, obviously not very proficient in saying such words.

Jon and the four of them left the office. On the corridor, Ron said dejectedly.

"I didn't expect him to be a Squib..." But he still seemed a little unwilling to give up, and guessed again to prove his own thoughts, "But these are all what he said, maybe he actually wanted to use the Squib thing to get rid of him. How about covering up your suspicions?"

His guess was a little too forced. This time, even Justin felt that Ron was making an unfounded guess, and at this moment, a thick figure happened to walk towards them.

"Hi, Hagrid." Jon greeted Hagrid who was looking for something in the corridor.

Seeing Jon and the others, Hagrid had a smile on his face.

"Good morning, Jon."

"Are you looking for Beachy again?"

"Yes, it hasn't been very obedient recently, and it always likes to run around in the carriage. I was afraid it would steal something, so I came in and looked for it." Hagrid said with a sad face, "Did you see it?"

Jon shook his head.

"No, if I saw it, I would definitely catch it and send it to you. By the way, we just have one thing to ask you." In order to make Ron completely give up, Jon said, "You know why Has Filch been using magic? We're curious about that."

Neville and the others beside him immediately pricked up their ears, and after Hagrid heard his question, his face was obviously surprised, obviously he didn't expect him to ask this.

After looking left and right to make sure there was no one else around, Hagrid bent down and moved closer to Jon and the others.

"You guys discovered this. Of course I know the reason, but I can't tell you. After all, this is his personal privacy, and he still cares about it, so even if the professors in the school know it, everyone doesn't Will mention more."

This answer didn't say anything, but it was equivalent to saying everything. It fit Hagrid's big mouth, and he really wanted to keep things secret but couldn't hide them.

After separating from Hagrid, Ron had nothing to say now, but they only cleared Filch's suspicion after a lot of tossing. Where is the infiltrator hiding in the carriage? A little clue.

"Don't think about it, leave this matter to the professors. We can help them the most by taking care of ourselves."

Neville agreed with Jon's words very much, and Ron and Justin finally went back to their dormitory honestly. It seems that after today's incident is over, they will be able to settle down for a while.

After returning to the dormitory, Jon picked up the parchment filled with spell pronunciation combinations again, but this time he couldn't calm down. A certain sentence he heard in Filch's office echoed in him. I can't get rid of it all the time.

In the end, he simply stopped trying, but leaned back in his chair and stared at the receding scenery outside the window in a daze.

Neville, who was revising his Transfiguration thesis, looked up and looked at him strangely.

"what happened?"

Jon shook his head silently and said softly.

"Nothing, just thinking about something, something not so good."

Life after the Christmas holiday has not changed much for the little wizards on the carriage. As Jon said, as long as they can take care of themselves and not cause trouble to the school, it will be the greatest help to the professors.

Jon also tried all the pronunciation combinations of the floating spell before February, and finally determined that the pronunciation that was completely opposite to the normal floating spell was the most suitable spell for him to use the ring to cast on himself.

After confirming these, Jon found Slughorn again, and wanted to learn from him how to improve the effect of this floating spell.

Obviously, compared to just reducing weight and increasing jumping ability and speed, what Jon wants more is to be able to fly with his own ability.
