Chapter 561
40 minute later.

"What kind of doggy weather!"

Out of the woods at the foot of the hill, Hou Jun tightened the collar of his raincoat, opened his hands, covered his mouth and sprayed hot air into it, then took out the waterproof map from his pocket, took out the compass, and put Its reticle is open.

Li Zheng on the side said: "Squad leader, your hands are shaking."

"Shaking a fart! Don't you shake? I saw you sifting chaff just now..."

He stood up while talking, took the compass with the reticle open and began to compare the magnetic angle, and began to look for the direction of progress.

After finding the right direction, he squatted down and started looking for the target point marked on the map.

While searching, he cursed and cursed, as if this was the only way to make himself more comfortable.

The weather changed suddenly today.

Not only did the temperature plummet to 5 degrees above zero, but it began to rain again.

Before departure in the morning, many teams could not help but feel apprehensive looking at the dark sky and the falling bean-sized raindrops.

Traveling according to the azimuth is the method of traveling according to the magnetic azimuth and distance measured on the map, also called traveling according to the magnetic azimuth.

This method was first created during World War II, and it is now somewhat primitive, but primitive things are the least likely to cause problems, so it is also a compulsory training subject for all special forces and reconnaissance forces.

This method is often used in deserts, grasslands, mountain forests and other terrains that lack azimuths, as well as driving under adverse weather conditions such as dense fog, snow and night.

It requires that there be obvious azimuths at each turning point on the route; the distance between turning points is about 1 kilometer (it can be farther away in plain areas, and closer in mountainous areas and at night); draw a "road map according to azimuth" before marching.

The disadvantage of this method is that it is not as accurate as the positioning of the electronic terminal. Whether it is accurate or not is a test of the proficiency and experience of the operator, because the routes drawn on the map according to the azimuth are all straight lines. After drawing, it will be a straight line. There are zigzag lines made up of straight lines, but it is impossible to walk in a straight line in the wild. It is impossible for you to have an endless flat prairie in front of you. Some places have to be detoured, and it is easy to deviate from the angle while walking, resulting in deviation.

The distance between each turning point and the next turning point should not be too close. One kilometer in the mountains is an exaggeration. In many cases, it is good if you can set a route of several hundred meters. When you reach the point, you have to make the next correction.

So don't look at the subject of cross-country sniping according to azimuth this time is only a short distance of 10 kilometers, but it takes twice or even several times longer than the normal cross-country march.

"The firing point is nearby."

Hou Jun looked around, and according to the location of the shooting point set by the organizer, it was within 200 meters nearby.

But here is a canyon, surrounded by tall trees, blocking a lot of sight, it is difficult to see with the naked eye.

This is their first point, a total of five points, five goals.

The speed of the two is very fast. After all, field topography is a traditional skill that has been practiced very well in the hands of PLA's old special.

"Squad leader, are we going the wrong way?"

Because it was too cold, Li Zheng couldn't help sifting his body, shaking his whole body a few times, feeling his face was numb.

He quickly took out an energy bar from his rucksack, tore off the package, put it in his mouth, chewed it, and took another sip of water.

The cold rain seeped into the clothes. It was difficult to be completely waterproof in the wild under such heavy rain. Eating some high-energy food was also a way to keep out the cold.

"Bullshit! I underestimated your monitor!" Hou Jun pointed to the front right: "I promise it's over there! Let's go!"

With a wave of his hand, he took the lead and ran over there without saying a word.

Before he had gone far, he suddenly stepped on a piece of floating mud, which seemed to be covered with grass, and he stepped on it directly up to his knees.

"I go!"

Hou Jun lost his center of gravity and fell directly to the ground.

Li Zheng hurried up and grabbed his carrying strap, dragging him out of the mud pit.

"This fucking place!"

Hou Jun cursed and wiped off the mud standing on his combat boots with his hands.

"Are you injured?" Li Zheng sized Hou Jun up, fearing that he might have sprained his foot.

"It's okay!" Hou Jun said: "Don't delay here, hurry up! Otherwise, all the golden eagles, gray wolves and lions will have run to the finish line."

The two of them ran towards the hillside in the direction of 11 o'clock next to the path under the hillside.

That's what Hou Jun thought was the sniper point.

If he was right, someone must be there.

200 meters, the two actually ran for 2 minutes.

The ground was too slippery and there was mud everywhere, and the anti-skid effect of the combat boots was completely lost. The most distressing part was the thick mud under the soles, making the shoes heavy and heavy.

This is really a kind of torture. The cold rain and the temperature drop have already caused too much replacement cost, and the bad road conditions make it even worse.

When Li Zhenggang set off, he was still thinking about how fast the other competition teams could be, and whether the three teams from the host country of H would rely on their familiarity with the environment to take too much time off the other teams.

But now he has no interest in thinking about other people's affairs at all. Just the first point made him and Hou Jun embarrassed. The next four points did not exceed the willpower of ordinary people, and they couldn't reach the end at all.

This is a somewhat gratifying thing. In fact, the abnormal weather not only caused the other teams to suffer, but also interfered with country H's own special forces team.

If the weather is fine, they don't even need to look at the map, they just need to take a look at the sniper spot and they can run there in no time.

Not now, even if they knew which way to go, the mud along the way and the mudslides that rushed down from the hillside and cut off the road would make these country H special forces helpless.

Hou Jun is indeed a veteran. Li Zheng and he climbed up the hillside and found that there were really five people on the other side of the hillside. Several people wore the armbands of referees and security personnel on their arms, hiding behind a huge rock and huddled together. Like a brood of newly born quail.

In fact, this kind of weather, not to mention the participants, even the security personnel, especially the security personnel in the wild, feel very sour.

Li Zheng saw a few people hiding behind the rocks wearing raincoats, lining up in a row, holding a piece of tarpaulin used to build a tent to keep out the rain. When the people were already frozen, their eyes were blurred and their noses were running. Want to laugh, but dare not laugh.

Seeing Li Zheng, one of the referees came out from behind the stone with a stoop, pulled Li Zheng and walked a few steps to the right, pointed to a circle surrounded by broken stones, and shouted in English: "Here! The target is there -"

After finishing speaking, he pointed with his hand and pointed in an approximate direction.

Li Zheng didn't bother with this poor guy anymore. If he had to choose, he would rather run on the mountain road than tremble here like these guys.

The wind on the mountain was so strong that the tent could not be covered at all.

The car can't drive, and people can't leave, so they can only bear the wind and rain.

This spirit...

Worthy of admiration!
Li Zheng and Hou Jun quickly occupied the sniper position. Hou Jun took out the observation instrument and began to look for the target, while Li Zheng took the anemometer to measure the wind force.

The value displayed by the wind gauge made Li Zheng's jaw drop in shock. He thought the wind gauge had been damaged by water, so he quickly moved into his arms and wiped it off.

The military hand-held custom measuring instrument has a very good three-proof function. Unless you take it for diving, it cannot be damaged by general rain and splashing water.

Li Zheng wiped it a few times, then lifted it up.

The number suddenly jumped to 8.1.

"Old squad leader! Gou Ri's eighth-level wind! Where is the target?" He couldn't help cursing.

Hou Jun pointed at 2 o'clock.

"At our 2 o'clock position, at a distance of 630 meters, the chest ring target!"

Li Zheng's face suddenly turned ugly.

"It's Hengfeng! Damn!"

This is a wind that snipers hate.

What they like most is no wind, followed by wind blowing from the front and behind. Even if it is a side wind, it only needs half correction, and a cross wind is a full correction.

Once the distance is too far and the wind is too strong, the possibility of problems during correction is greatly increased.

"Is there any turbulence?!"

A crosswind is a crosswind, and it is a big deal to correct it.

But Li Zheng is most afraid of turbulent currents.

When sniping from too far away, if there is turbulence in the path of the ballistic flight, there will be wind in the opposite direction, which will cause the ballistic to drift.

This kind of turbulence cannot be effectively predicted and judged, because in actual combat, it is impossible for you to walk the distance between the target and you to see what kind of wind is blowing.

Even in this situation, it is impossible to go over and stand there and measure it.

There is no time to waste.

So, how do snipers judge turbulence?

Just look at the terrain.

For example, if the ballistic flight is close to a cliff or hillside, or if it is in a valley with complex terrain, and the terrain is steep and steep, turbulence is prone to occur.

This situation is hard to guard against. If the place where the ballistic trajectory passes is relatively open, turbulence will generally not occur.

If you feel that there will be turbulence, but the ballistic trajectory has to fly close to the hillside or cliff, then you must make a certain compromise in the correction amount. When there is an oblique wind in the opposite direction or a crosswind caused by turbulence, the correction value can be 4 or 3, and 2-1 dense positions can be compromised, depending on the specific situation.

Because Xiu 3 or 2 can still hit the target even if there is no turbulence, but it can still hit the target without hitting the bull's-eye.

If you choose 4 without compromise, you may just miss the target due to the effect of turbulence.

This is experience.

Li Zheng's disadvantage is experience, but his advantage lies in his high education, quick brain and accurate judgment.

Besides, beside him is the experienced Hou Jun.

Hou Jun said: "The ballistic trajectory is 40 meters away from the hillside. I don't think there is a problem. There is no need to consider the reverse wind! Let's do it! Don't waste time!"

He looked up at his watch.

The first target point was only two kilometers away, and it took the two of them 51 minutes.

too slow!
Li Zheng stopped talking.

The silence speaks.

He lay down on the ground and began to make corrections, quickly pointed to the chest ring target, and started aiming...

A high-magnification binoculars was set up not far away, and several H country base security personnel who were in charge of referee support unexpectedly ignored the cold, and happily gathered around the binoculars to see if Li Zheng's group could hit.

Because, according to the results from other points before, except for country H, the previous groups all missed the target.

The performance of the PLA in the past few days was very good. Everyone wants to see if the team that temporarily ranks first in the overall list can make the first hit.
