Of course, China’s shipping companies are not just for nothing, and we are also an importer of natural gas. The localization of LNG ships is an inevitable requirement to ensure my country’s energy security, so the only way to go is to work hard and catch up.

In 2008, Shenhua Shipyard, located in Shanghai, fully digested and absorbed foreign technology, built the world's largest LNG carrier at that time and successfully launched it for use.

This marks the beginning of China's shipbuilding industry to officially enter the LNG carrier market, but is the problem solved?In fact, no, here we have to mention the foreign technology.

In fact, both Shenhua Shipyard and the three major Korean shipbuilding companies use the patented technology of the same French company, GTT's membrane-type ship liquid cargo containment system, to manufacture LNG carriers.

Moreover, invar steel is very "delicate". If you touch 0.7mm thick invar steel with bare hands, it will rust through within 24 hours. It is extremely difficult to manufacture. Of course, the difficulty of welding is even higher. It is definitely one of the most difficult materials to weld in the world. .

At present, only the French GTT company can provide invar steel materials, which is a proper seller's market, which has formed a monopoly situation where China and South Korea are struggling to build ships, while the French are lying down to make money.

The feeling of being stuck in the neck is not good, what to do, it is still the same sentence "do it yourself, and have enough food and clothing".

At the beginning of last year, the marine invar steel localization project jointly launched by Shenhua Shipyard and Sangang Special Steel Co., Ltd., strives to make my country the second country in the world that can produce invar steel besides France within 3-4 years.

This is definitely good news for my country's shipbuilding industry. At the same time, the Koreans are not idle. Their ideas are more advanced, that is, to develop a new generation of materials to replace the traditional Invar steel, and this material is exactly the The high manganese pure austenitic alloy steel mentioned by the director.

In fact, this is also a helpless move by the Koreans. Previously, the three major shipbuilding companies had bought the manufacturing technology of Invar steel from GTT at a high price, but it could not be used in actual production.
