Chapter 18 Heimerdinger
After lunch, Zell headed out with a bag of poro snacks.

He went to Piltover University, his former college.

A few years have passed, and I don't know how it has become.

When you come to the gate of the university, the first thing you see is a gilded statue standing on a sphere, shining in the bright sunlight.

Holding a wrench in one hand and dragging the hexcore with the other, the statue opens its arms to the sun.

This is a statue of Cecil B. Heimerdinger, founder of Piltover University and president of the college.

Even if he is removed from the parliament, it still cannot change the fact that he is the dean.

It was him Zell was looking for.

Guided by memory, Zell came to the door of the dean's office.

After adjusting his tie and buttons a little, he knocked on the door.

"Please come in."

The high-pitched voice came from the office, the same as Zell remembered.

"Good day, Professor Heimerdinger, sorry to interrupt you."

On the high stool, a small figure turned around and looked at Zell through a pair of glasses.

"Oh, I remember you, the boy from the Gilaman family. Didn't you graduate?"

Heimerdinger has a bushy beard and a furry face. He comes from a mysterious race called yordles.

Zell felt that he could recognize himself among the hundreds of students he had taught, mostly because of racial talent.

This memory is really good.

"Yes, I have graduated for several years. This visit is mainly because I want to ask the professor some questions."

Zell rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment. If Heimerdinger knew that he was going to ask questions about science and technology next, I don't know what this scientific research madman would think.

"Okay, I like answering questions the most. It's rare that you have a heart for knowledge. Do you want me to prepare a tool demonstration?"

Heimerdinger was about to jump off the chair, but was stopped by Zell: "No! No need! It's just some common sense questions, you just sit and talk, you don't need to do it."

To this day, Heimerdinger's lively and humorous lecture style and unpredictable and terrifying teaching demonstrations still leave an indelible impression on the minds of smart people in Piltover.

Heimerdinger used to be a traditionalist. He was very resistant to the development of Hex technology because he had seen the disasters brought about by magic.

He believes that technology powered by magic will sooner or later harm the City of Progress.

But a series of things that happened after that gradually changed his views. He realized that the existence of technology is to improve people's lives, and he became more enthusiastic about Hex technology research than anyone else, even doing experiments in the classroom. Scared the students.

That being said, Heimerdinger is quite a good person except for his research enthusiasm.

For example, the professor and his former teaching assistant Victor.

Victor, who was born in Zaun, has been weak since he was a child, but he is very thirsty for knowledge, and has always yearned for Piltover University on the ground.

But being poor, he couldn't afford college tuition at all, and all his parents could do was buy him a school uniform.

Victor sneaked into the school wearing this school uniform, and worked hard to attend classes and study.

The clever Heimerdinger was the first to discover this strange but hard-working student and asked Victor to be his teaching assistant.

Otherwise, once the matter is revealed, Victor from Zaun will be attacked by those Piltover students who think they are superior.

It was precisely because of meeting Heimerdinger that Victor was able to enter the university in an official capacity.

And he did not disappoint Heimerdinger. Later, the Hexfly Gate jointly developed by Victor and Jess became the most proud work of Piltover in one fell swoop, bringing huge wealth to the city.

Of course, Heimerdinger also participated in the Hexflying Gate project. It was he who integrated Bandle City's portal concept, and the two were able to complete this feat in just a few years.

……

Seeing that Heimerdinger sat down on the chair, Zell asked, "Professor, what I want to ask is, do you know how to breed Poro?"

His question made Heimerdinger stunned for a moment: "I remember you are not from the biology department."

"I'm from the Department of Finance, but I recently adopted a few Poro. I only saw the professor raising Poro, so I came to ask you. Please accept these Poro snacks."

Zell University majored in finance, which was arranged by his parents, but what he really liked was biology or history.

His parents didn't respect his wishes and chose a major he didn't like without authorization, which was one of the reasons why Zell didn't have a good relationship with them.

But he can't say anything, Gilaman is a matriarchal clan, and women have the final say on all matters in the clan.

This is rare in the enlightened city of Piltover, and if traced back to the source, their ancestors may come from the Freljord.

"I have raised a Poro, but I have no experience in breeding Poro." Heimerdinger pushed his glasses: "Actually, although I have raised this Poro for several years, I don't know How did its previous generation give birth to it. The way it came into my hands is not much different from what it is now."

"You don't even know..." Zell showed regret on his face, but his heart was full of turmoil.

Heimerdinger has raised Poro for several years without any change. Doesn't it mean that Poro's growth is extremely slow.

Does his Poro have to be kept longer before it is possible to see their offspring? If you want to form an ethnic group, it must not last for a hundred years?
This is too long.I can't believe it.

"Professor, how do you usually feed Poro?"

"It's fine to feed the food at ordinary times. When I can't remember it, let the students help to feed it. Later, I felt embarrassed to bother the students all the time. I also received complaints, so I made a timing feeding machine by myself..."

Speaking of which, Heimerdinger blushed later, and he admitted that he really didn't care much about taking care of Poro, and he just wanted to keep alive.

"It turns out that the problem is here." Zell sighed with his hands on his forehead. This kind of raising method can't even raise goldfish.

"Professor, I must correct you, raising a Poro like this has no soul! Poro are different from ordinary creatures. Their growth motivation does not come from the nutrition in food, but love and companionship!"

"You mean... the lack of love and companionship will cause the poro to stagnate... I should take care of it so it will continue to grow? Oh my god, I'm an old fool, what have I done!"

Heimerdinger suddenly realized, he finally understood why his poro couldn't grow up, it turned out that he had never understood what it needed!
Seeing this, Zell shook his head helplessly.

How important a reliable master is to a poro!
Be careful when choosing a new owner for a poro in the future.

He walked out of the office silently.

Although he didn't ask anything, but accidentally saved a Poro, it was worth the trip.

"Son." Heimerdinger chased up from behind, "Thank you for reminding me, I have to go back and find my Poro."

"It should be." Zell moved out of the way so as not to block Heimerdinger.

"I'm sorry for not being able to answer your doubts, but I know someone who may be able to help you."

"Who?"

"Professor von Epp."
