Chapter 548 547. There is no true Buddha in the world

"Amitabha, brother, long time no see."

When Xuanzang walked into the small courtyard and saw that the golden red cassock that represented his identity and status had been removed, the thin monk who had just retreated for 6 days showed a smile that would make both men and women jealous.

Kong Ji also had a smile on his face, got up and walked to Xuanzang's side, holding his junior brother's shoulder with his hand.

The meaning of Buddha, rippling between the two.

For a moment, a hint of surprise appeared in Kong Ji's eyes, and he clasped his hands together:

"Amitabha, I can't think of it. I haven't seen him for a few months. My brother's Dharma has improved a lot. It's really gratifying."

While talking, he dragged Xuanzang into the room and sat down.

Two burly monks lit lamps and served tea respectively, and then retreated to guard the door.

"Brother, how is Master?"

Hearing Xuanzang's words, Kong Ji nodded:

"Before leaving, Master found me on purpose and told you not to worry about it. Everything is fine in the temple...just wait."

Kong Ji got up, walked to the bookshelf in the room, took out an ordinary cloth bag, and put it in front of Xuanzang to open it himself.

A greased paper bag inside was revealed.

Opening the oiled paper bag again, Xuanzang saw the things clearly, and the smile on his face turned into longing.

There is nothing else in the oil-paper bag.

Just a bunch of dry looking dried vegetables.

Look at that appearance...it looks like a carrot.

At this time, Kong Ji smiled and said:
"Master knows that you like to eat dried bran radish after winter. In early spring, he personally cut it and dried it into strips. No, this time I specially asked me to bring it to you. Save it, next time you want to eat it, you have to wait until next year gone."

"Thank you, brother."

Xuanzang's brows and eyes showed sincere joy. After rewrapping the paper bag, he suddenly sighed:
"Amitabha, after all, my disciples still can't reach home in practice."

He talked without beginning or end, but Kong Ji smiled and said:

"The order of parents and teachers is filial piety. There is no blame for big desires, and there is no need for teachers and brothers to do so."

"Thank you brother for pointing out the maze."

Seeing Xuanzang put away the package of dried radishes, Kong Ji nodded and said:
"I came here this time mainly because of this pool of dragon fire."

"Well. Just now, I have heard what the Taoist Priest Shou Chu said about the past few days. Brother, the Cui family, and the Daoist sect have reached a consensus?"

"That's right. It's about us taking [-]% of the supplies to lock the dragon fire formation, and occupying [-]% of the dragon fire... Before we set off, in the Buddhist monastery, I discussed it with all the brothers. [-]%, we can accept it." The bottom line, I originally thought that this time the Taoist sect would still be strictly guarded, and we would not have a chance. But this time... the disciple of the national teacher, Taoist Tiangang, suddenly let go. I have already sent the news back to the monastery. In less than two months, several brothers and sisters may come over. With this pool of dragon fire, although we are still behind, at last, we have the qualifications to compete with the "nine" series of pills of Taoism. Junior brother, You should take the lead in this matter.”

"..."

Kong Ji was originally a compliment, but at the end, Xuanzang shook his head:
"Senior brother, Xuanzang dare not take credit for this matter. If there is no Shouchu Taoist priest, I am afraid that everyone in this city will be killed. I just contributed a trivial effort..."

"You don't need to underestimate yourself..."

"No, brother."

Xuanzang looked at Kong Ji seriously and shook his head:

"Brother was not at the scene that day, and everything he knows is just what others say."

There was a flicker of wandering in his eyes.

Under Kong Ji's slightly frowned brows, there was an extra... inexplicable meaning in his voice:

"Senior brother has never worked together with the Taoist priest to stop the power of the dragon and fire, so... I can't feel it. But I have felt it. If I say, I met the Taoist priest for the first time...or the first time I saw Xuan Jun Guan's true martial art looks because he feels that the Taoist priest is talented and righteous, and only then can he be recognized by Zhenwu. But on that day, in the midst of the dragon fire, when my great day Tathagata merged with the true martial emperor , I really felt the...pureness in Daoist Priest's heart."

"..."

Kong Ji frowned even tighter.

He knows better than anyone what his own junior is like.

There is no need to say anything about the character of a child who grew up around many senior brothers.

Otherwise, the younger brother would not be worthy of the title of "Buddha's son".

But now he respects a Taoist priest so much, which made him a little angry and absurd for a while.

After thinking about it, he asked:
"This Taoist who keeps the beginning is so good? ... What's so good about it?"

"Where is it?"

Xuanzang asked back first, his eyes still in a trance, recalling that day, the most sincere friendship for this world that he felt from Zhenwu...

He pursed his lips.

There was a sigh of dissatisfaction and admiration in his eyes.

"Brother, do you know who was the saint I disliked the most?"

Kong Ji was stunned for a moment, and suddenly remembered that more than ten years ago, the teachers and brothers surrounded the Buddhist temple under the bodhi tree that was said to be the Bodhi tree that was said to be planted by Shaman Kasyapa Moten in the Dashi East to spread Buddhism. At that time, when the younger brother who was less than ten years old was asked which Buddha he liked the most, he said:
"Senior brother, there are so many Buddhas I like, I can't name them. But there is one I don't like the most~"

Many teachers and brothers don't mind, the Dharma is boundless, if a disciple feels resentment in his heart, it must be his own fault. Then speak out boldly, and use the scripture debate meeting to clear up the confusion for the younger brother.

What's more... the master is also listening with a smile on the side.

Therefore, when asked who he disliked the most, the younger brother said that the one he disliked the most was the arhat who was free from desire, representing "no birth", "killing thieves", and the three lives and six connections--Subhuti.

As soon as these words came out, many senior brothers were stunned.

You must know that the Buddha himself said in the Vajra Dharma Assembly that Subhuti has attained the Samadhi of No Disagreement.

It is the idol in the hearts of many monks.

Why do juniors dislike arhats who are free from desire?

When asked why, Xuanzang told them in a childish voice:
"Buddha said: Because Subhuti has entered the state of goodness of mind of the sage Arhat who has no remaining nirvana, his thoughts and thoughts do not create karma, nor do they produce karma. The creation of the heart is like a bird flying in the sky. The sky leaves no trace."

Everyone is still puzzled, isn't this good?
No heart, that is, no desire.

If you don't have desires, you won't create karma.

Don't touch anything, don't fall into reincarnation.

This is the true meaning of Buddhism, why do you hate it?

But the answer they got left everyone speechless for a long time.

The immature Xuanzang asked back:

"Isn't this the quiet and inaction of Taoism?"

With a rhetorical question, the debate is over.

The state of Wuxin is the state of not doing good and evil, the highest state of practice, and the state of Buddha and Arhat!A good person corresponds to a good law, and a sage corresponds to the Tao.

This is the wisdom in the Buddhist scriptures.

but……

Yup……

This……

Isn't this quiet and inaction?
Buddhism and Taoism are different, why do they seem to be... all of them the same when they finally attain the right fruit?

This debate ended without a problem, but it left a deep impression on Kong Ji.

Because until today, there is no correct answer for why the innocence and separation of desires of the arhatship are compatible with Taoism's tranquility and inaction.

Although in the end it can be discussed and summarized as a "same goal by different routes".

But shouldn't Buddha and Tao be fundamentally different?
Not even the master gave a formal answer.

But today Kongji heard Xuanzang bring up this matter again, while falling into reminiscences, he couldn't help but ask:

"Why are you bringing this up again?"

"Because... I have realized it. Brother."

The eyes of the thin white-clothed monk suddenly lit up with light:
"Because I saw an arhat in the heart of Priest Shouchu. In other words, I felt the true purity and inaction."

"..."

"Amitabha."

I couldn't help clasping my hands together, and the monk's tone was pious and compassionate:

"Once upon a time, Taoist Priest Shouchu told me: Bodhisattvas do not cross people because they become Bodhisattvas, but become Bodhisattvas because there are many people crossing them. Although I feel it in my heart, I still don't think it through. .Until that day, I saw his heart. Suddenly, I realized. Senior brother, is there any difference between Buddha and Taoism?"

He issued his own rhetorical question, and Bao Xiang was solemn.

"We cultivate our own body and cross the world. Become a Buddha first, and then pass on the Dharma. Taoism cultivates inaction, and the mortal world is not stained, and only then can we become immortals... Everything in this world comes from our own heart, brother, right?"

"……Um."

Hearing Kong Ji's response, Xuanzang suddenly shook his head:
"It's wrong, brother. We are all wrong! Cultivating one's body is selfish desire, and one cannot become a Buddha!"

"!"

Kong Ji raised his head suddenly, looking at his junior brother with absurd eyes.

It's like asking "Do you know what you're talking about?"

But Xuanzang laughed.

He didn't explain, but nodded:
"Senior brother, I am confused. Today's question cannot be solved by senior brother, nor by master. Even Taoist priest Shouchu can't solve it. But it is true. It is a question in my heart. Once, on the Yellow River, the Taoist priest asked me: Monk I told the Taoist priest: Bitter. After that, the Taoist priest took Venerable Kasyapa as an example and told me that most people in this world are like Venerable Kassapa. They are not capable enough, so they can only manage themselves well. That's why he practiced himself and cultivated his own body. Is there anything wrong? No. But, senior brother, Venerable Kasyapa chose to cultivate his own body because he had attained Buddhahood and knew that his own virtue was not enough. He was not enough, but Buddha was enough. Therefore, Buddha chose Save the world. Right?"

"..."

Empty and speechless.

Vaguely... He felt that there seemed to be a... inexplicable major change in his junior brother.

Beneath the seemingly calm face, there are huge waves rolled up by the surging tide of Penghai...

He didn't know what the junior brother was going to say.

But before I knew it, my back...was already drenched.

And just as he was hesitating, he saw the eyes of the monk in white blazing:
"Too small! Brother!"

Small……?
What is too small?

Kong Ji was full of puzzlement.

But the next moment...

"You cannot become a Buddha by saving yourself! Only by saving all living beings from suffering, affliction, greed, and fear... can you become a Buddha! The disciples of Buddhism in this world are all like Venerable Kasyapa, who can cultivate their own selfish desires. We... repair mistakes It’s wrong! It’s a big mistake! If you grow old, you’re nothing more than Venerable Kasyapa.”

"..."

"...????"

"...?????!!!!!!"

Kong Ji's face was full of horror.

Looking at the younger brother who seemed to have a big change in temperament.

Dumbfounded, unable to speak.

he……

What is he doing?
Looking at it like this, in the vast flames full of compassion, those eyes seemed to understand his confusion.

and told him:

"If the real Buddha cannot be found in the world, all living beings will not be liberated. Then I will... find it!"
