Preface｜In memory of Ava Morgan——Jane Hester

In June this year, Ms. Clifford told me that the preparation of "The Autobiography of Ava Morgan" was basically completed. She asked me if I would like to write a recommendation for this book. I was very pleasantly surprised and immediately agreed.

Here is a beautiful coincidence, I am 72 years old this year, and when I first met Ava at the age of 20, she was also 72 years old.I was going through some of the worst times in my life, and Ava was very generous with helping me out.I can't imagine what my life would be like today if I hadn't met her at that moment. As she told me back then, our destiny is always closely linked. During these years, this sentence often echoes in my life ear.

When the manuscript arrived, I was very surprised—I didn’t expect this book to be so short, with less than [-] words in length, but it really fit my impression of Ava, she seldom talked about specific things. In the past, if Ms. Anna did not repeatedly persuade, this thin booklet probably would not have survived.

For some well-known reasons, the Ava Morgan Awards have been suspended for nearly 30 years. The foundation was re-established last year, and I can finally see this wonderful tradition continue again.I was lucky to have maintained a friendship with Ava for nearly ten years. Her tenacious character, far-sighted vision, almost strict self-discipline and never-ending pursuit of an ideal world have deeply affected me.

For many young people today, the name Ava Morgan has been firmly associated with the old world. We hate the past so much that we don’t even want to let our eyes stay on those people and things soaked in blood and tears. I just want to move forward with enthusiasm.In the last year, I have seen the slogan "Let everyone's happiness be as natural as breathing" in many places.I know that we have indeed achieved some results, but at the same time, I also perceive some danger omens.Some history has only just passed, and already some of us are beginning to forget.As soon as someone starts reminiscing about the past, there is a voice saying that the past full of failures is not worth chewing.

However, my opinion is quite the opposite. If you don’t know how the predecessors used repeated struggles to obtain the happiness in your hands, then when this happiness is taken away, you also don’t know how to defend it; no right is taken for granted. It should be, it was born like this, if anyone thinks so, then this is the beginning of her loss of power again.

Happiness is as natural as breathing, and I have nothing against this slogan, on the contrary, I think it does point out the need to be vigilant - we breathe every moment, so we often forget about it, but things The seriousness lies in the fact that even if we forget to breathe, the breathing will not stop, but once we forget that the hard-earned territory under our feet needs to be defended at all times, it is only a matter of time before we completely lose it.

As Ava said, no generation can stop. Now we are standing under the shade of trees planted by our predecessors, and the seeds planted today will also change the fate of those who have not yet been born.Don't forget that our destinies are always closely linked, and don't forget how we got here today.I believe that as long as there are still some of us who can carry on this belief, the world will have a bright future.
