Chapter 14 Leader

Chapter 14 Leader
"So, do you know how to transform people into monsters?"

Colin described the process of being attacked in the warehouse incident and some speculations in his mind to the lampkeeper.

Of course, he concealed that he and Ji Li'an had tested the spiritual elements of the flesh and blood.

"There are at least five ways to create what you're describing, but I'm not sure which one," said the lampkeeper:
"If it is witchcraft, the preset trigger mechanism is also very simple. The trigger in the ritual device may be your killing intent, or the pain accumulated in that person's heart."

Colin thought about the butt of the gun that he slapped on the opponent's mouth, thinking that he had caused trouble on impulse.

"I was scratched by that thing, and the wound deteriorated quickly." Colin pointed to his flank, where there was a treated wound under the clothes:
"What can you know after seeing this?"

"Maybe."

Colin thought that at least he needed to lift his shirt, but the lamp guard just stood there, as if he hadn't even zoomed in his pupils.

"There's no spiritual essence on it." He directly opened his mouth and came to a conclusion, as if he was just trying to tell if there was an apple on the table.

"Material contact does not mean that the ether will also be connected. It is very common that the wound is not contaminated with spiritual elements."

The lampkeeper shook his head and said, "Just like this, nothing can be confirmed."

Does that mean he has to ask Julio?
But before the whole picture became clear, Colin didn't want to reveal the location of the hotel and let Luca know Julio's location.

In a way, this is his only bargaining chip in this matter.

When he had a slight headache, Luca spoke first:

"I think of something to deal with. I'll go back for a while. Let's take you to the carriage stop first."

Thank goodness, Luca is leaving now, so there is no need to worry about exposure.

Then Colin felt again that Luca's words came as a coincidence.

Maybe Luca was really thinking of something to do.

Maybe it's because Luca doesn't want to get too involved with the "hometown" and the light keeper. So leave everything related to Julio to Colin.

But based on Colin's understanding of this man, he vaguely felt that the biggest possibility was:
Luka should have noticed it, and acquiesced to his vigilance against him.

……

Luca walked towards the car parked on the embankment road.

Looking at his back, Colin suddenly shouted.

"Luca."

Today, there are very few people who can call him Luca.

Luca turned his head to look at Colin. Except for Colin's height, neither of them seemed to have changed much over the years.

"I'm in trouble, can you do me a favor?"

"You said."

Colin was nominally attached to Luca, but rarely asked for his help.

"Help me spread some lies. For example, someone in the southern suburbs of Booker Station saw Julio being tied into the abandoned factory next to the track."

This will lead to Capello's people a little faster, and will not be so passive.

"I remember, I will do it for you."

"How soon can their people hear the news?"

"I can't let the people in the group be targeted by that freak." Luca said, "So the news will take a few more turns and spread tomorrow morning."

That is, as soon as noon tomorrow, the Capello family will appear in the place specified in the rumor.

"Enough, I will pay it back later."

"As long as you believe in me, I will help you, Colin." Luca said:

"Live and count what I owe you."

……

The warehouse incident was originally the trouble Colin got into while working for Luka, and Luka was responsible.

Colin's defense against him is also reasonable.

And it was beyond Luka's ability, enough to make him feel strange and frightened.

But he did not use the power of the Cestalo family under his command.

Colin guessed that his thoughts should be:
The "Patriarch" has no right to let the people in the group fall into such a danger that ordinary people are simply unable to deal with without their knowledge.

So what Luca actually did was to find a lampkeeper who he didn't trust yet, and planned to help himself.

However, he sensed Colin's vigilance against him during the conversation, so he withdrew with a blunt reason halfway through.

Colin sat in the carriage, slowly reviewing and sorting out the possible meaning behind all of Luca's actions in this meeting.

Although Luca became the patriarch, he did not look like a leader.

No one will take care of everyone who is attached to him like he does.

Perhaps because of this, no one will truly appreciate him, and everyone will feel that he owes him somewhat.

Sitting in that position, you should let others know that you have no heart.

Colin straightened the watch on the wrist, letting himself stop thinking about Luca.

The lampkeeper sat across from Colin and fell into a deep silence. It is like a silent desert after the tide has receded.

Thinking about it carefully, he did not say a word that has nothing to do with the mysterious world.

This kind of person should be the guarantee of the extraordinary level to ensure that the five hands have a foothold in the alliance.

Are they still living as human beings?

……

In the evening, Colin found Ricardo in a sweet water shop that was a tavern two months ago at the place he had agreed earlier.

"They only sell juice." Ricardo said with a bitter face. "I take back what I said before that Prohibition didn't matter."

"What's wrong with the juice?" Colin pulled him into the carriage.

After all, Ricardo was just an adult, and Colin remembered the days when he and him changed the law to bypass the regulations to buy alcohol.

They may enjoy getting out of the fence more than underage drinking itself.

The three came to the hotel where Julio was housed, and in the aisle, Colin and Ricardo covered their faces.

And the lampkeeper was like he couldn't see the turban that Colin handed him, so Colin didn't ask himself for boredom.

Entering the room, in the dim light, Julio could still be seen sitting alone on the head of the bed, his mouth gagged, his hands tied to the iron bed rail.

There were signs of struggle on the bed, but she was now tired and asleep.

Seeing her sleeping soundly, Colin remembered that he was also terribly sleepy. After all, he hadn't slept his eyes since the warehouse incident.

Ricardo found the matchbox, ready to light the kerosene lamp.

The lampkeeper stood in the corner of the room as if it didn't exist.

Colin walked into the bathroom, wiped his face with the hotel towel, and then saw that there were still rust-colored blood stains left by an unknown traveler on the towel.

Suppressing the nausea in my heart, I thought that the interrogation was about to begin, what should I do if I start to feel nauseated now.

Giulio was woken up by the sound of a match being struck, and she only struggled symbolically twice in horror.

A delicate and sensitive gangster princess.

These adjectives are stacked together, and they don't match how they look.

A few months ago, she might have been on an equal footing with Luca.

But now, she could only watch in helplessness and horror as Colin put the bloody towel beside the bed.

After telling her what to do if she dared to scream according to the procedure, Colin took out the cloth ball that was stuffed in her mouth.

As if choking on her own breath, she kept talking like a sob in a low voice.

"I don't know anything about..."
